AC Port of Spain, formerly North East Stars, slumped to their fifth straight defeat yesterday evening as they were edged 1-0 by San Juan Jabloteh in Pro League action at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain.

Jair Edwards got the winner for the ‘San Juan Kings’ in the 65th minute. Jabloteh are eighth in the 11 team table.

AC Port of Spain, coached by Walt Noriega, are one place and one point off the foot of the table—after a run of form that saw them winless in eight successive matches. Their last win came on 28 January 2020 when they edged Tiger Tanks Club Sando 1-0.

Noriega’s troops, who include former national youth team captain John-Paul Rochford and current National Under-20 midfielder Rivaldo Coryat, may need another result to avoid finishing last. AC’s final three matches this season are against Police FC, Club Sando and Morvant Caledonia United.

Cellar placed Cunupia FC, who will overtake AC on goal difference once both teams are level on points, face W Connection FC from 6pm today at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva. Cunupia’s last three matches are against: Point Fortin Civic, San Juan Jabloteh and Terminix La Horquetta Rangers.

There are four Pro League matches this evening with leaders Defence Force and second placed Rangers both in action.

Defence Force have 41 points with four games left and Rangers, who have 32 points at present, can only get to a maximum of 44 points if they win their remaining matches.
