St Augustine dethroned: Trinity East KOs Intercol champs

St Augustine Secondary’s bid to retain its Coca Cola Intercol title ended yesterday evening at the Larry Gomes Stadium in Malabar as the defending champion school was eliminated after a 1-0 defeat to Trinity College East in the East Zone semifinals.

Trinity East will now battle San Juan North on Wednesday November 19 from 3.45 pm in Malabar for the East Zone Intercol crown. San Juan North also booked its place in the zonal final yesterday after a 3-1 win over Arima North Secondary at the Larry Gomes Stadium.

Elsewhere in the South Zone yesterday, Presentation College (San Fernando) romped to a 5-0 win over Moruga Secondary while St Benedict’s College whipped Fyzabad Secondary 5-2 at a Mannie Ramjohn Stadium double header in Marabella.

Presentation (San Fernando) and St Benedict’s will join Premier Division and Big Four champs Naparima College and Pleasantville Secondary in the South Zone semifinals on Tuesday afternoon in Marabella.

In the North Zone, Trinity College and St Mary’s College also cruised into the final four after comfortable wins over Fatima College (3-1) and Malick Secondary (4-0) respectively. They join St Anthony’s College and East Mucurapo Secondary in the other semifinal match up on Monday.

Miracle Ministries Pentecostal High School fell 4-2 on penalty kicks to ASJA Boys in Carapichaima while defending zonal champions, Chaguanas North Secondary, whipped Preysal Secondary 4-1 at Woodford Lodge.

Chaguanas North and ASJA Boys will square off in the Central Zone semifinals on Monday evening in the second game of an Ato Boldon Stadium double header, which also features Presentation College (Chaguanas) against Carapichaima East.

Tobago will be first to crown its zonal champion as Speyside Secondary and Signal Hill Secondary battle for the title on Monday from 5 pm at the Plymouth ground.

  3. St. Mary’s College beat Malick Secondary 7-0 on Thursday, not 4-0. That was the first half score. The goals were scored by Ethan Shim(2), Rickel Dixon, Justin Brooks, Nathan Harte, Aaron Skeene and an own goal.

    • Thanks Gervais. We cannot be at all the games so we assume the scores we get from the SSFL are accurate.
      It is very unfortunate that this turns out not to be the case. Sigh.
