SSFL 26: Glasgow gets handful in 7-0 Benedict’s rout, while Clement and Caprietta help “Naps” past Arima

Former Trinidad and Tobago National Under-17 Team attacker Kanye Glasgow made some entrance today for his new school, St Benedict’s College, as he scored five times in a 7-0 rout of St Augustine Secondary in SSFL SporTT Premiership action at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva.

A 2025 North Zone Intercol champion with St Anthony’s College, Glasgow opted to take his firepower to the “La Romain Lions” this year. And, after a delay in processing his transfer, the frontman hit the ground running with a first half hattrick and two items after the break—in a lopsided win against the “Green Machine”.

The result saw St Benedict’s leapfrog Arima North Secondary to third place.

Naparima College also had some star-studded inclusions to their roster today, with goalkeeper and 2025 SSFL MVP Mikhail Clement and winger Jaydon Caprietta both returning to the school, while they were joined by versatile attacker Immanual Wright.

“Naps” welcomed an injury ravaged Arima North team to Lewis Street in San Fernando, and the hosts dominated the contest—although both of their goals came off set pieces, with a Javon Denoon own goal from a Caprietta corner kick and an imperious Jabari Rodriguez header off a Wright corner.

Naparima, the defending champions, are two points shy of Arima North in fifth place, although the former team have a game in hand.

At the top of the table, Signal Hill Secondary remained in pole position without kicking a ball, and they might extend their lead too based on another officiating decision.

The fault, though, would lie with hosts Trinity College (Moka), who were deemed to have insufficiently marked their ground for today’s contest.

At present, the contest between Trinity College and Signal Hill is recorded as DNP (did not play). However, based on SSFL results, the Tobagonian visitors are likely to be awarded a 3-0 win for “poor field marking”.

A Signal Hill triumph would stretch their lead to three points over second placed St Mary’s College, who were twice pegged back by Presentation College (San Fernando), en route to a 2-2 tie.

Mikhai Nedd got a memorable maiden Premiership goal for the “Pres Lions” in the 83rd minute, just as it seemed that Jaedon Thomas’ second half item might decide the fixture.

Speyside Secondary, like Signal Hill, return to the “Sister Isle” with something tangible to show, after they surprised fellow newly promoted team, Hillview College, 3-1 in Tunapuna.

Three weeks ago, Hillview raised eyebrows with a 6-3 win over Fatima College on Mucurapo Road. However, their loss against Speyside today was the school’s third straight winless outing after successive draws against St Mary’s and St Benedict’s.

Hillview face Naparima next.

Fatima took advantage of Hillview’s slip, as they climbed above them to seventh place with a 1-0 win over St Anthony’s College. Fatima have played eight times for their 12 points, though, while Hillview and Presentation both have 11 points from seven games.

Queen’s Royal College climbed three spots to 11th place today, with a 4-1 result over struggling Trinity College East.

The bottom four schools on the 17-team standings will be relegated at the end of the season. And, at present, three points are the difference between five schools hovering around the relegation trapdoor: Malick and QRC (both 9 points), St Augustine and Trinity College (both 7 points), and San Juan North (6 points).

Mucurapo West and Trinity College East, with five and four points respectively, are not far from safety either.

An intriguing battle looks to be looming: for both Premiership honours, and survival.
