Jabloteh face Stars in FCB Cup qualifier; Pro League returns to Morvant on Sunday

Second placed San Juan Jabloteh will have to fight for place in the First Citizens Cup quarterfinal after today’s draw consigned them a qualifying play off battle with fifth placed Ma Pau Stars.

Jabloteh face Stars from 8pm on Tuesday 8 November at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva in the second match of a double header. Club Sando, who are eighth in the 10-team standings, kick off the qualifying round from 6pm at the same venue when they face ninth placed Defence Force.

The First Citizens Cup competition continues with the quarterfinal round on 12 and 13 November and the semifinals and final on 22 November and 2 December respectively.

For the first time in the 17-year history of the tournament, there will be cash prizes for winners throughout the tournament as First Citizens Bank will pay out TT$3,000 for victors in the play off round and TT$5,000 and TT$7,000 respectively for positive results in the quarterfinals and semifinals.

On top of earlier earnings, the winner in the cup final will pocket TT$110,000 while the runner-up will receive TT$20,000.

In other Pro League news, action returns to the Morvant Recreation Ground this weekend where Morvant Caledonia United host Defence Force from 3.45pm on Sunday 6 November. The fixture was initially carded for the Barataria Recreation Ground.

Jabloteh are affected by the shift too as they will now face Point Fortin Civic from 4pm in the first game of an Ato Boldon Stadium double header on Sunday. Club Sando and Ma Pau meet immediately after from 6pm at the same venue.

The First Citizens Cup draw means Jabloteh, Stars, Club Sando and Defence Force will all play twice within the space of 48 hours.
