St Mary’s College moved within 180 minutes of their first Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) Sportt Premiership crown today, after a 5-1 win away to Trinity College (Moka).
But victories by Naparima College and Signal Hill Secondary, in potentially tricky outings, mean the 2026 title race is likely to go down to the wire.

“Naps” enjoyed a rare comprehensive triumph in the southern derby, as they downed Presentation College (San Fernando) 3-0 at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium in Marabella.
The defending champions got two goals from set pieces—captain Jabari Rodriguez and defender Elijah James both heading in off Xavi James corner kicks—while Rodriguez got a second after the break, to erase any nerves for the visitors.
Naps are behind St Mary’s by just two points, with two games remaining. Signal Hill, also with 34 points, trail Naparima by only goal difference.
Today, the Tobago bigwigs retained their 100 percent home record, as they held off Fatima College 2-1 at the Bertille St Clair Playing Field.

Captain J’meke Watkins was among the Signal Hill scorers again with his 13th goal of the season, which temporarily doubled the hosts’ lead.
Fatima College attacker Jahaem “Yellows” Bailey, as is often the case, did have an answer—as he got his 21st item of 2026. He needs one more goal to match the Premiership scoring record of 22, by former Presentation College (San Fernando) forward Isaiah Jacob.
But the team crown is already beyond Fatima.
On Friday afternoon, St Mary’s host Signal Hill on Serpentine Road in St Clair. The implications of the match on the 2026 title race are profound.
At the other end of the table, there were some momentous results too, as St Augustine Secondary gave themselves a lifeline to avoid relegation with a 4-3 win over Arima North Secondary at the Arima Velodrome.

The “Green Machine” opened the scoring inside the first minute, as defender Jimel Jerome headed home from a corner kick before the home team had properly touched the ball.
Arima North Secondary drew level through defensive midfielder Kaylon Alexander before twice taking the lead, through a pair of 14-year-olds in Joshua Bristol and Javan Smith. Each time, St Augustine levelled through attackers Luke Eccles and Israel Holder, as the scores were locked at 3-3 by the interval.
The Dial Dynamos could not score at the Hospital end, though, and Holder’s eighth goal of the season snapped an eight-game winless streak for St Augustine.

The Green Machine are still in the relegation zone, but they trail 13th placed San Juan North Secondary by only goal difference. And they are one point off Queen’s Royal College and two behind Malick Secondary, with two games remaining.
San Juan drew 1-1 at home against Speyside Secondary today, with David O’Brien scoring for the second successive match. And QRC and Malick both lost tight affairs.
Malick were edged out 1-0 by a Cristiano Hinds penalty kick at Hillview College, while St Anthony’s College scored twice in the closing 15 minutes to down the “Royalians”.

The positive results for St Augustine and San Juan North meant curtains for Mucurapo West Secondary and Trinity College East, who were both relegated today.
The Trinity “Blue Hawks” were on a bye today, but cannot surpass San Juan North, while Mucurapo West’s 9-0 capitulation against St Benedict’s College also makes it impossible for the newly promoted North Zone team to climb to safety.
Kanye Glasgow scored four times in the St Benedict’s rout, while fellow attacker Jaylon Forbes got a hattrick.

Glasgow has an interesting record since his move to the “La Romain Lions”. He has 11 goals from eight games. However, nine of those items came in two matches: St Augustine (5 goals), Mucurapo West (4 goals).
St Mary’s College supporters will go to bed happiest tonight, though, while the Green Machine have genuine optimism too, as the 2026 Premiership draws to an exciting finale.
