Boyce names T&T team for 8-a-side Fifa U-15 World Cup; Benedict’s coach to miss four Premiership games

Coach Randolph Boyce has confirmed his 14-man squad which leaves Trinidad and Tobago on Monday to compete in the inaugural Fifa U-15 World Cup & Festival in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The tournament runs from 22-31 October and features an 8v8 format with two 20-minute halves. All Fifa member associations are invited and, in 2026, 191 nations will take part.

Trinidad and Tobago are in Group S, alongside Egypt, Iraq, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Macau and Cayman Islands, based on a pre-tournament ranking. They will face all five teams in their group in what is considered a qualification stage, while there is a subsequent tournament stage based on the initial results.

The timing of the competition means that St Benedict’s would be without Boyce’s services for at least four SSFL Premiership Division matches—against Speyside Secondary, Presentation College (San Fernando), and St Mary’s College (all away), as well as a home contest against Trinity College East.

The “La Romain Lions” host Fatima College tomorrow from 3.45pm at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva.

More than half of the national squad are also Premiership players, although few are regular starters for the schools.

The national players are:

Goalkeepers: 13.Samuel Hosein (Naparima College/ Union Hall FC), 1.Malachi Leach (Fatima College/ City FC),
