Twenty-two-year-old defender Kobi Henry will lead out the Trinidad and Tobago Men’s National Senior Team tomorrow, as the Soca Warriors face South Korea from 9pm (TT time) in an international friendly at BYU South Field in Utah.
Football fans can watch the match on BYUtv.org or BYUtv app.
Henry is the youngest Trinidad and Tobago captain since the 20-year-old Ken Galt in 1937, although it is unlikely to be a permanent honour—with Levi Garcia expected to reclaim the armband next month.

Even more remarkably, Henry only made his international debut for the Soca Warriors nine months and six caps ago, in a goalless draw against Curaçao at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain.
And this is Henry’s first training camp with coach Derek King, since he was promoted from assistant earlier this year.
In truth, King did not have many options, which might point to the relatively inexperience of his current squad. Only utility player Noah Powder (22 starts, 15 substitute appearances) and midfielder Daniel Phillips (21 starts, 5 substitute appearances) have more than 10 senior international starts under their belt in King’s current 22-man squad.

Henry, unlike Powder and Phillips, was a regular starter under King’s predecessor, Dwight Yorke, during the final round of the 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign.
King suggested that he was excited by the quality in the current squad though, with Scotland-born defender Kieran Ngwenya coming in for special mention as a good addition.
Ngwenya, a Dunfermline FC employee, is one of three first-time additions to the Trinidad and Tobago squad, along with US-based full back Jacob Greene and UAE-based midfielder Ali Kazim Nakhid.
“Our football is in good hands with this bunch of players we brought here,” King told the TTFA Media. “[…] The most important thing for us right now is to give a good showing of ourselves and prepare ourselves for our [first] game (of the Concacaf Nations League) in September.”

South Korea have lost both outings so far this year without scoring, against Ivory Coast (0-4) and Austria (0-1). However, ranked 25th in the world by Fifa and led by Los Angeles FC forward Son Heung-min, the Asian outfit start as overwhelming favourites tomorrow.
King said the Warriors will hope to defend well as a group, with the expectation that they would be able to create chances at the other.
“[For the] first 20 minutes we have to concentrate [and] be focused,” said King. “As I told them, once we defend as a unit [and] put ourselves in a situation where we can counter-press the ball when we attack. I think once we defend well, we will create goal scoring opportunities.”

I’m happy that Kobi Henry is new captain for the National team despite his young age.
But what I’m not pleased about is we are not defeating South Korea Republic under Derek King!
If we had Dwight Yorke, we would’ve get at least a draw!
