Covid counter: 193 new cases and 3 deaths in first 2 weeks of 2021

The first two weeks of 2021 saw three deaths and 193 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 in T&T. That is one more death and nearly 17% fewer cases than the 233 new cases reported in the last two weeks of December 2020.

The seven-day rolling average is now about 18 new cases per day. Since March, the country has recorded 7343 cases of the coronavirus. With the death toll now at 130, the case fatality rate (CFR) is 1.77%.

The Ministry of Health reported 23 new cases today, two of which were repatriated nationals. There are 300 active cases of Covid-19 in the country.

Thirty patients are in hospital, including one in intensive care at the Couva hospital. There are 15 patients in step-down facilities while 363 are in state quarantine facilities.
