Live Wire chronicles: T&T under threat—but is it from DSS, Covid-19… or something far more sinister?

How much more proof about the dire consequences of this clandestine malady does Trinidad and Tobago need before it takes this menace seriously?

Mr Live Wire joins the medical community in urging citizens to: physically distance, sanitise, and use common sense liberally. Yes, over 75 per cent of victims are male and over 50; but this does not mean the rest of the country can afford complacency or indifference.

Collectively, we can—and must—see off this threat to our golden generation; and we owe it to them to at least try. But enough about Sacha Singh…

The world has bigger problems at the moment. The most powerful military on the planet is now commandeered by a self-indulgent, dishonest crackpot, who has already ‘fixed’ the supreme court and insists he will not accept any electoral count which does not declare him as winner.

Joe Biden, it appears, could not have faced shorter odds for fair treatment if he was taking on ‘Tanty Kamla’ in the UNC election, or replacing ‘DJW’ at the helm of the TTFA. Maybe USA should have requested Caricom election observers. Oh, what a year.

Or maybe this is the way it has been all along, and we simply were not paying adequate attention.

A one percent restaurant owner seemingly happy to condemn his compatriots to ‘death by Covid’ if it means an upturn in his profits; a government happy to sell state jewels to anyone but the working class; a ‘sou sou’ operator who can’t open his fridge without knocking over about three police investigators and a bandit soldier, while neither Gary Griffith nor the courts harassing David John-Williams, Brian Kuei Tung, Steve Ferguson, Ishwar Galbaransingh, Sadiq Baksh…

And all the while, small business owners stand a better chance of winning the lottery before they see their little relief grant.

Maybe the novel coronavirus has not altered lives as much as we thought. It just underlined the wrong aspects of it.

In the midst of the bacchanal comes a report that a pretty young Trinidadian woman has run roughshod over the immune system of a significantly older man—and not for the first time either.

Symptoms are believed to include: loss of taste, inability to smell trouble, and light wallet-edness.

Whap cocoyea!
