TTPS closes Riverside Plaza and Police Admin bldg due to Covid-19 scare

Commissioner of Police Gary Griffith ordered the immediate closure of Riverside Plaza and the Police Administration Building in Port of Spain today due to Covid-19 scares, according to a Trinidad and Tobago Police Statement (TTPS) this morning.

The decision to close the buildings follows ‘unconfirmed reports of an employee of the TTPS exhibiting flu-like symptoms at the workplace’. The officer was sent for testing.

Riverside Plaza and the Police Administration building will remain closed for the rest of the day to facilitate sanitisation.

At present, Trinidad and Tobago has 153 confirmed cases of Covid-19 following additional positive results yesterday. Three cases are from returning nationals who have travelled from Antigua, Guyana and Vietnam respectively.

One case, according to the Ministry of Health, is a primary contact of a recent Covid-19 case. And the fifth is a local with no known travel history and is ‘pending epidemiological investigation’.
