TTFA claims Yorke was terminated “by mutual agreement” since 28 February

“[…] Discussions were held between the TTFA and Mr Dwight Yorke regarding the future of the role, including revised contractual terms and remuneration aligned to the next phase of the programme.

“After these discussions, both parties were unable to reach agreement on the proposed terms at this time, and it was mutually decided to part ways… on February 28th…”

The following is a press statement by the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) on its relationship with Men’s National Senior Team head coach Dwight Yorke, who resigned earlier today:

The Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) advises that the contract of Men’s Senior National Team Head Coach, Dwight Yorke, has been terminated by mutual agreement on February 28th.

Following the conclusion of the recent Fifa World Cup qualification campaign in which T&T failed to advanced to the 2026 World Cup, the TTFA Executive Committee conducted a comprehensive review of the campaign and the overall direction of the Men’s Senior National Team programme, inclusive of its technical structure and financial framework.

Subsequent discussions were held between the TTFA and Mr Yorke regarding the future of the role, including revised contractual terms and remuneration aligned to the next phase of the programme.

After these discussions, both parties were unable to reach agreement on the proposed terms at this time, and it was mutually decided to part ways.

This decision reflects the outcome of those discussions at this juncture. The TTFA wishes to emphasise that the Association maintains a professional and respectful relationship with Mr Yorke, and the door is not closed to future dialogue.

The TTFA thanks Mr Yorke for his service and contribution to the Men’s Senior National Team and acknowledges his commitment during his tenure.

In the interim, the Association will, in due course, announce the appointment of a Head Coach to lead the team in preparation for the upcoming international friendly against Bolivia on 15 March, as well as participation in the upcoming Fifa Series to be held in Uzbekistan.

The TTFA remains firmly committed to strengthening the Men’s Senior National Team programme as it transitions into its next phase and will continue to act in the best interests of Trinidad and Tobago football.

Further updates will be communicated in due course.

Editor’s Note: The initial TTFA release stated that Yorke’s contract “has been terminated by mutual agreement with immediate effect”. This was subsequently amended, with “immediate effect” replaced by “on February 28th”.

In an interview with Wired868 this morning, TTFA president Kieron Edwards said he was unable to reach Soca Warriors head coach Dwight Yorke in recent weeks.
