The following Letter to Editor, which urges caution in supporting the objectives and pronouncements of United States president Donald Trump, was submitted to Wired868 by Kelvin McLean of La Romaine, San Fernando:

It’s either you hate or love [to support] Donald Trump. There is little in-between, except for unbiased observers like you and me.
The conundrum arises when Trump’s supporters, non-supporters, or objective onlookers find something positive in his deeds. And trust me, there will always be positive things in what he does.
But here lies the danger. Take any of the problems he promised to address and there is always a degree of positivity in them. For example, the situation of immigration where he promised to stop the droves of immigrants entering the USA through illegal channels.

Trump has resorted to rounding up any suspects and deporting them unceremoniously. But the question is what is his hidden agenda?
So far, I haven’t seen any (or many) European/white immigrants in the round-up, which must be a significant proportion of the migrant population. While we may relate with his stated intention, we must always seek to know what Trump’s true agenda is and separate the two.
Was it simply to make America white again?
This anomaly of Trump’s stated and hidden agendas arises in all of his deeds, and we must be wary of this contradiction.

We must therefore be prepared to deal with our uncomfortable feelings of expressing any support for the man. Conditionalities must always accompany any support for him.
Take any other well-known issues, and the conclusions are the same: tariffs, drugs inflow through the US borders, government layoffs disguised as efficiency, the end to the Ukraine and Gaza wars, etc, etc.
You will always find hidden outcomes to the benefit of the oligarchic rich, while the poor are not considered.

Last but not least, he has no fundamental, moral underpinnings that you can assume could be relied on as a basis for any mutual agreement. He will easily abdicate any such responsibilities and do what next will benefit him.
He will throw you under the bus, just like he did Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Russia president Vladimir Putin might as well have been in the White House on that ill-fated day.
The fact that he may bring some positive relief does not justify supporting him. Such support must always be qualified. It was the acceptance of disguised benefits to Africans that ensured the advent and continuation of slavery for 400 years. We must be careful of the devil bringing gifts.

So do the litmus tests on his actions and hidden agendas and their apparent justifications. They invariably result in the long-term destruction of the world.
Trump is prepared to put America first, cares very little for the rest of the world, and would burn down the planet and live in the ashes.
He will let America live in opulence while the rest of the world wallows in sheer misery and abject poverty, and it wouldn’t bother him in the least. His conscience is dead.
