The next two finals of the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) will be hosted by Guyana and Barbados in 2025 and 2026 respectively.
CPL CEO Pete Russell today announced their plans for the regional franchise T20 cricket competition, which is in its 12th season at present.
“Guyana and Barbados have been amazing partners for CPL over the last 12 years,” stated Russell, “and it is really exciting to be able to announce that they will be hosts for the finals in 2025 and 2026 respectively.
“We would like to thank the governments of both Guyana and Barbados who have agreed to play host to the conclusion of CPL.”
The 2024 Republic Bank CPL final will be staged at the Guyana National Stadium in Providence on Saturday 6 October, with the Saint Lucia Kings facing the Guyana Amazon Warriors.
Guyana also hosted the franchise cricket tournament in 2022 and 2023. They will make it four in a row in 2025 before passing the baton.
“I want to take this opportunity to wish Guyana Amazon Warriors all success on behalf of all Guyanese as we try to make it two [wins] in a row,” Guyana president Irfan Ali told the CPL media. “To all the other teams we wish you well as we play together in unity. I am also very delighted to announce that Guyana will be hosting [the] CPL 2025 finals.”
At present, the Guyana Amazon Warriors are the defending champions.
Barbados, the 2026 hosts, saw their franchise lift the CPL crown twice, in 2014 and 2019—when they were named the Barbados Tridents. The island has never hosted the CPL finals. However, Kensington Oval in Bridgetown is earmarked for that privilege in 2026.
“I am so happy to say that the CPL finals 2026 will be in Bridgetown at Kensington Oval,” said Barbados prime minister Mia Mottley. “As you prepare for the long march to Bridgetown, let’s hope my own team, Barbados Royals, can take it to the finals this year.
“If we don’t we will catch you next year, and for sure we are going to catch you in Bridgetown in 2026.”
Since the inaugural CPL competition, Trinidad have staged the event on six occasions—twice at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain (2013 and 2015) and four times at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba (2017-2020).
The only other Caribbean host nation was Saint Kitts and Nevis, who held the CPL final at Warner Park in Basseterre in 2014, 2016, and 2021.
