SSFL 25: Signal Hill and Scarborough surge, while Trinity East stumble

Tobago schools had a successful afternoon in the Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) Premier Division yesterday, as Signal Hill Secondary and Scarborough Secondary both registered vital wins over St Anthony’s College and Trinity College East in rescheduled matches.

Signal Hill registered two goals in either half, as Jermaine Morgan, J’meke Watkins, Kyle James and Immanual Wright all got on the score sheet.

The result took coach Downie Marcelle’s team to within nine points of leaders Naparima College, but with three games in hand against: St Augustine Secondary, Trinity College East and Malick Secondary.

If Signal Hill maintain their current trajectory, their closing game against Naparima at Lewis Street, San Fernando could meet both sides on 34 points.

For St Anthony’s College, yesterday represented an anticlimactic end to their 2025 Premier Division season as they followed up wins over Naparima and defending champions Fatima College with successive defeats against Malick, St Augustine Secondary and Signal Hill respectively.

Next Tuesday, the “Westmoorings Tigers” play Mucurapo West Secondary in the North Zone Intercol quarterfinals and would be desperate to end their current slump.

For Scarborough Secondary, who have been stuck in the relegation zone since September, yesterday’s win over Trinity College East gave them real hope of surviving the drop.

The newly promoted team are still 15th in the 16-team table, with the bottom three outfits certain of demotion. However, they have two games left—away to Trinity College (Moka) and at home to San Juan North Secondary.

Three more points might save Scarborough’s season, while six points definitely would.
