Defence Force slip to third; Jabari Mitchell’s late strike lifts Connection

A last minute item from DIRECTV W Connection teenager Jabari Mitchell gave the “Savonetta Boys” a vital 1-0 win over Defence Force in Pro League action today at the Marvin Lee Stadium in Macoya.

The result saw Defence Force, who lead the league up until Valentine’s Day, slip further to third place in standings while Connection skipped into second spot.

Defending champions Bankers Insurance Central FC are in the driver’s seat and they stretched their advantage with a 3-0 win over Japs North East Stars at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva.

Marcus Joseph opened the scoring and Jason Marcano grabbed a double for the “Couva Sharks” who ensured that former coach Ross Russell had an unpleasant evening in first clash with Central since his dismissal last December.

Police FC continued their own good form with a 2-1 win over bottom placed St Ann’s Rangers in Couva while Morvant Caledonia United climbed one spot to eighth place in the 10-team table with a 2-0 win over Point Fortin Civic.
