SSFL 24: SSFL pushes back Premier kickoffs, outside of live SportsMax games

The Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) executive has announced a change in the Premier Division kick off times, effective from Wednesday 18 September, with all but the live broadcasted games moved from 3.30pm to 4pm.

The SSFL did not immediately proffer a reason for the change but Wired868 understands that it is in response to the current heatwave—and also takes into account the opportunity to give boys more class time.

Due to the travel distances involved (particularly in the Premier Division), teams often have to leave school by 1pm to get to away games on time.

The SSFL made a similar adjustment to kickoffs last year until October, when fading light pushed them to return to 3.30pm starts.

However, there was no adjustment to the schedule for games beamed live by SportsMax. And, thus far, the kickoff for SportsMax games remain untouched—despite the issues for school boys.

Tomorrow, SportsMax cameras are at Mucurapo Road where defending champions Fatima College host southern juggernauts Naparima College in a clash of two outfits with 100 percent records in the current season.

In the big 4pm matchups, leaders St Anthony’s College host unbeaten Arima North Secondary in Westmoorings while Signal Hill Secondary face Malick Secondary at St Mary’s College grounds in another clash of teams who are yet to taste defeat this season.

Presentation College (San Fernando), who also have a 100 percent record, are away to St Augustine Secondary on Warren Street.
