St Mary’s College were one of two teams to fall via the penalty shootout today, as the last Zonal Intercol semifinal places were snapped up.
The “Saints” put 19 goals past Belmont Secondary on Monday. They could have done with one of those items today, as they failed to beat East Mucurapo Secondary goalkeeper Aaron Andrews in regulation time—as the two Premier Division sides played to a goalless draw.

Andrews was pretty handy at penalties too, as he kept out two spot kicks to help East Mucurapo prevail 4-3 at QRC ground in St Clair.
East Mucurapo’s next engagement comes on Thursday 16 November when they face St Anthony’s College in the North Intercol semifinals, as part of a double header at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.
The “Westmoorings Tigers” had a far more straightforward assignment today as they whipped North Zone Championship Division winners Blanchisseuse Secondary 7-2 on Mucurapo Road.
Flanker Andell Fraser led St Anthony’s scorers with a hattrick, while Abraham Kirk scored twice for Blanchisseuse.

Elsewhere in the North, Fatima College cruised past Trinity College (Moka) 5-0 in another quarterfinal contest, while, in a minor upset, Queen’s Royal College eliminated Malick Secondary 2-1 in Westmoorings.
Malick finished one spot above 11th place QRC in the Premier Division standings while their previous head-to-head went 3-1 in favour of the former team. However, the “Royalians” got some revenge in the knockout format with Micah Nelson scoring twice to take QRC into the semifinal round.
It was one-way traffic in the South Zone, with St Benedict’s College and Presentation College (San Fernando) both making light work of Championship Division opposition.
The “Pres Lions” mauled Siparia West Secondary 14-0 with former National Under-17 flanker Vaughn Clement scoring six times, while Jeremiah Joseph managed a hattrick in St Benedict’s 12-0 win over Point Fortin East Secondary.

St Benedict’s will meet Pleasantville Secondary in one South semifinal match-up while Pres and Naparima College square off in the other semi—arguably the most passionate football derby in the country these days.
There were four Championship Division teams in action in Tobago and zonal winners Signal Hill Secondary emerged 3-1 winners over Roxborough Secondary while Mason Hall Secondary needed penalties to get past Scarborough Secondary, after a 2-2 draw.

This statement “Elsewhere in the North, Fatima College cruised past Trinity College (Moka) 5-0 in another quarterfinal contest…” could have been rendered thus:
“Elsewhere in the North, in another quarterfinal contest, Fatima College cruised past Trinity College (Moka) 5-0 in the last twenty minutes of the game after having to deal with a stubborn opposition earlier.”
Touche. That context would have been better provided with a match report/ score summary which are rarely offered by the league. We would cover the zonal finals live–although admittedly that may be of little consolation to Trinity (Moka). Apologies.
Good morning Lasana,
Thanks for the feedback. Yes, the match is done and dusted. It must be noted however that the match was carried live by Sportsmax on YouTube – so the context was readily available.
Thanks Paul.
