Young is new energy minister, Hinds takes national security post while Cummings gets youth job


Stuart Young, the Port of Spain North/St Ann’s West MP, has replaced the late Franklin Khan as minister of energy and energy industries with Fitzgerald Hinds taking over the portfolio of national security minister.

The decision was announced this afternoon via a press release by Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley, which said the prime minister had advised President Paula-Mae Weekes to confirm the changes ‘with immediate effect’.

Young retains his position as minister in the Office of the Prime Minister while La Horquetta Talparo MP Foster Cummings replaces Hinds as minister of youth development and national service.

Khan passed away on Saturday 17 April.

  2. Ah, boy! Real journalism.

    No mention of the fact that Khan’s death on Saturday 17 April came four days after he received a shot of the vaccine.

    What is the real justification for making that link at this juncture? Do responsible newspapers offer rumour and speculation? On their front page, no less?
