Molik, Payne in Yorke’s T&T WCQ squad; Phillip, Joevin, Bateau excluded

Trinidad and Tobago Men’s National Senior Team head coach Dwight Yorke named four changes to his 26-man squad today, as they prepare for upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Bermuda and Curaçao.

Deron Payne, a 23-year-old Netherlands-born right back, and 21-year-old midfielder Molik Khan represent the most notable introductions. Neither have represented Yorke before while, in Payne’s case, the Eredivisie player is now closing in on his international debut.

The Central FC duo of 26-year-old goalkeeper Jabari Brice and 26-year-old forward Isaiah Lee were also included. Brice is uncapped while Lee, who has 14 senior international caps with three goals, last represented the Soca Warriors at the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup.

Yorke did not recall veteran goalkeeper Marvin Phillip, defenders Darnell Hospedales, and Isaiah Garcia, and utility player Kaihim Thomas from Trinidad and Tobago’s team that faced Curaçao and Jamaica.

There were no summons for veteran central defender Sheldon Bateau and midfielder Joevin Jones either, who both featured in the ongoing Concacaf Caribbean Cup for Defence Force and Central FC respectively.

Lee and national captain Kevin Molino are the only outfield TTPFL players selected to represent Trinidad and Tobago in this match window.

FC Volendam right back Deron Payne (left) was born in Hoofddorp, Netherlands to a Trinidadian father and Dutch mother.

The Soca Warriors have one point from two outings so far and need six points from their upcoming two engagements to keep their hopes of a 2026 World Cup berth alive.

The Trinidad and Tobago team, which is in a training camp in Miami at present, play away to Bermuda on 10 October before travelling to Curaçao for their closing match of this window on 14 October.
