NGC injects TT$3 mil into Soca Warriors’ 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign

The National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (NGC) has injected TT$3 million into the Soca Warriors’ 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifying campaign.

The two-year sponsorship, which is the first major commercial deal done under the tenure of current Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) president Kieron Edwards, was revealed at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva yesterday.

It coincided with the Soca Warriors’ 2026 Concacaf Gold Cup Preliminary fixture with Cuba, which Trinidad and Tobago won 4-0 to book their spot in the group stage of the competition.

NGC is a longstanding patron of local track and field and was a sponsor of the Secondary Schools Football League in 2025.

“Sport is one of the longstanding pillars of NGC’s extensive corporate social responsibility programme, because of the clear value it adds to society,” said NGC chair Dr Joseph Ishmael Khan. “Football is one of those sports that impassion our people, and we hold fast to hopes of returning to compete at the World Cup.

“We at NGC have seen a role for us as a national company to invest in the pursuit of that national dream, by helping to fund and facilitate the necessary groundwork that will get us there.”

The NGC sponsorship, according to the TTFA, will be used to:

  • Provide support for Trinidad and Tobago’s World Cup campaign;
  • Provide funding for player preparation, including international training camps, friendly matches, and specialised coaching;
  • Provide support for team logistics to compete successfully in qualifiers and tournaments;
  • Provide support for the senior Men’s National Team local training camps, including provision of world-class facilities, technical staff, and match simulations;
