Arima North Secondary made light work of a top of the table clash with Speyside Secondary today, as they moved to the top of the SSFL SporTT Premiership Division standings on the back of an 8-0 win at the Phase 2 Recreation Ground in La Horquetta.
Captain Micha’el “Mickey” John scored a hattrick, as did flanker Dimitre Jones, as the “Dial Dynamos” put in a fierce offensive performance in La Horquetta.

The result saw Speyside slip two places to third, while St Mary’s College climbed to second spot thanks to a 3-0 win over St Anthony’s College on Serpentine Road, St Clair.
Arima North and St Mary’s are the only schools with 100% records in the competition, at present, after three successive wins. Only goal difference separates the two outfits.
Arguably, it was Hillview College who produced the shock of the round, though, as—just two days after a 3-0 triumph over St Anthony’s College in Westmoorings—the newly promoted East Zone school returned to west Trinidad to whip Fatima College 6-3 on their own ground.

Fatima, shellshocked, trailed 5-1 at the interval, before they rallied to make the score summary slightly more respectable.
Attacker Jahaem Bailey got a hattrick for Fatima and now has seven goals already from three matches. Yet, Fatima have just four points.
Hillview, meanwhile, are now in fourth place, with their only defeat so far coming against Arima North at the Hillview school ground.
Elsewhere in Tobago, it was always likely to be a tough trip for champions Naparima College, with Signal Hill Secondary a notoriously difficult opponent on their home ground. And so it proved, as Signal Hill came from behind to edge “Naps” 2-1 in the Sister Isle.
After a Kisean Grant own goal sent Naparima into the interval with a one goal lead, Signal Hill midfielder Ackim Duncan scored twice in the second half with the winner coming from the penalty spot in the 82nd minute.

It was, to put it mildly, a controversial decision by a controversial referee, Keon Yorke in favour of the home team.
Presentation College (San Fernando) were the biggest movers of match day three, as they climbed six spots to eighth place after a 2-0 win away to Trinity College East.
Trinity College (Moka) had a much better afternoon than their namesakes, as they surprised San Juan North Secondary 4-1 in Bourg Mulatresse as they jumped off the foot of the standings to 13th place.

And for Queen’s Royal College (QRC) and Mucurapo West Secondary, the wait for their maiden win of the 2026 season continues, as they played to a 1-1 draw at QRC grounds. Both schools have two draws and a defeat so far this term.
In today’s other fixture, St Benedict’s College returned to winning ways—after a weekend loss to San Juan North—as they edged Malick Secondary 1-0 off virtually the last kick of the game at the Hasely Crawford Stadium Training Field in Port of Spain.
Samuel Balfour did the business for the “La Romain Lions” with the winner in the fifth minute of second half stoppage time.

There was no shortage of goals in La Horquetta though.
The Dial Dynamos, of course, are synonymous with the Arima Velodrome. However, the Velodrome was pre-booked so Arima North shifted their first home game of the season to the Larry Gomes Stadium in Malabar, instead.
On match day, an issue at the stadium forced a second change of venue, with Arima North being hastily accommodated in Phase 2, La Horquetta.
The Dial Dynamos did not seem to mind much, as they got off to a flying start through winger Melick Adams in the eighth minute. Six minutes later, John scored what might now be described as a trademark solo goal—and Arima North never looked back.

Speyside captain Riquelme Phillips was a class act, still able to take on opponents two at a time, and almost impossible to fairly dispossess. But his teammates struggled to deal with the onslaught, particularly on the flanks.
Jones made the most of his freedom with a hattrick—which included two fierce strikes from outside of the opposing 18-yard box—while Adams struck the bar and tormented opposing left back Ryan George Jr.
And Jediah David, a powerhouse of a centre forward, scored for the third game running, with a thumping finish off a Jones pass.

Arima North are off the flier in 2026. But St Mary’s College are only a fraction away, while Hillview, Naparima, St Benedict’s and Signal Hill have already shown glimpses of what they can do.
At present, the race for SSFL supremacy is wide open.
