Pro League round-up: M’vt Caledonia stun Defence Force, Civic’s Jeremiah scores again

Morvant Caledonia United handed Defence Force their first defeat of the 2019/20 Pro League season yesterday evening as the ‘Eastern Stallions’ won 2-1 at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain.

Flanker Joshua Alexander scored his second match winner of the week—following up on his decisive strike against Terminix La Horquetta Rangers last Tuesday—and St Lucia attacker Tev Lawrence got the opening goal for Caledonia. Defence Force’s sole item came from an own goal by Barbadian defender Melvin Doxilly.

Defence Force still lead the Pro League standings but are just one point ahead of Caledonia now, although the Army/Coast Guard combination have one game in hand.

Elsewhere, third place Police FC rebounded from a two game winless streak to spank AC Port of Spain 4-1 with Kareem Freitas notching a double while fourth placed Rangers managed to see off Central FC thanks to a late double by captain Jamal Creighton.

And Point Fortin Civic made it two wins on the trot with a 3-1 triumph over Cunupia FC at Mahaica Oval. Giant Civic striker Kerville Jeremiah was on target again for the fifth straight match and he is now joint top of the scoring charts alongside Police’s Keion Wilson.

It was not a good weekend for W Connection though, as they twice relinquished leads to San Juan Jabloteh and were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva.
