TTFA ‘has no affiliation with Mr Jerome Pierre’; local body distances itself from ‘scholarship programme’

The following is a press statement from the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA):

The Trinidad and Tobago Football Association is hereby advising the public and stakeholders that it has no affiliation with the individual Mr Jerome Pierre nor has the organisation endorsed any programme or activity as is being purported by the individual.

Please be guided accordingly.

Below is an excerpt of the message being distributed on social media and WhatsApp forums:

“Good Morning. This is Jerome Pierre, a representative of the Student Prospect subdivision of the TTFA. We will be facilitating prospective athletes between the ages of 15 and 17 in a (sic) all-expenses paid trip to Tobago at the end of the programme. The programme will last 6 weeks from a date which is still to be determined but most likely January 27th.

“Athletes will be judged based on skill and eligibility for scholarships to various universities across the United States and Canada. Please see the form attached regarding enrolment. If you are eligible based on your responses, we will ask for your parents’ contact information.”
