Trinidad and Tobago football clubs look set to miss out on the 2019 Caribbean Club Championship and the 2019 Concacaf Champions League due to the alleged failure of the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) to properly execute its club licensing programme.
The shock announcement, which was revealed at a TTFA board meeting tonight, means that North East Stars, W Connection and Police FC will have shorter seasons than anticipated. Concacaf’s supposed decision to ban the three Pro League clubs is believed to be final, although it was not yet communicated to Stars or Police.

(Courtesy Allan V Crane/CA-images/Wired868)
“Nobody has contacted me or [club owner] Ryan Nunes as yet, so I cannot make a statement on that,” said Stars director Michael Awai.
Police FC head coach Richard Hood said he was also in the dark.
“You’re telling me something I did not know,” Hood told Wired868. “As far as I know we are compliant in all aspects, so that is news to me. We did everything we were required to do [by the TTFA] and we were granted our license.”
Ironically, Connection are owned by TTFA president David John-Williams and chaired by his daughter Renee John-Williams, who attended several FIFA/Concacaf workshops since her father’s election in November 2015.
Wired868 could not reach Pro League interim chairman Richard Fakoory or CEO Julia Baptiste for comment.
TTFA Club Licensing manager Michelle Lynch has apparently shouldered the blame for the ban, as the TTFA board was informed that she was dismissed with immediate effect. Lynch’s position is due to be advertised in the media until Tuesday 19 March while a Club Licensing Department will also be created.
The TTFA constitution mandates that the football body has an audit and compliance committee but the board failed to properly set up the body in the three years served thus far by president David John-Williams.

(Copyright Annalicia Caruth/Wired868)
At one point, the committee was manned by TTFA employees Sharon O’Brien and Lynch. However article 45.3 of the constitution states: ‘the chairman and deputy chairman of the Audit and Compliance Committee shall be independent from TTFA, its bodies and Members’.
In another bit of business today, the TTFA board effectively rubber stamped the appointment of National Under-17 Team technical staff members Kenwyne Jones (assistant coach), Caleb De Souza (assistant coach), Ross Russell (goalkeeper coach), Aaron Pollard (manager) and Devin Elcock (equipment manager).
They will assist National Under-17 Team head coach Stern John.
Jones, a former National Senior Team captain and England Premier League forward, has just three months coaching experience as assistant at Queen’s Royal College (QRC) last season while, according to the CV presented to the board, he does not hold a coaching badge at present.
However, the majority of the board voted to support the appointment of the 34 year old on John’s recommendation and with the belief that his success as a player could prove inspirational to the young men. The board did not appoint a therapist recommended by John as no CV was yet provided for consideration.
All National Under-17 technical staff members have agreed to work without pay.

Jones retired from football in 2017.

In other news, Tobago Football Association (TFA) president Anthony Moore and Southern Football Association (SFA) president Richard Quan Chan were elected to serve as TTFA vice-presidents for the remainder of John-Williams’ term. Both men were nominated by John-Williams and seconded by Veteran Footballers Foundation of Trinidad and Tobago (VFFOTT) president and new board member Selby Browne.
They replace Allan Warner and Joanne Salazar who quit their roles. The TFA and SFA will select replacements for Moore and Quan Chan respectively on the board.
Moore was also elected to the commission of the new proposed league set-up between the Pro League and Trinidad and Tobago Super League (TTSL) entities. Again, John-Williams and Browne teamed up to recommend his ascension.
The TTFA also agreed to hold its Champion of Champions tournament before the end of March with winners from the North, South, East, Central and Tobago zones. The Eastern Counties Football Union (ECFU) will not participate after again failing to hold any competition in the last calendar year.

Badge never coach nobody
well he get appointed
The real story here is not the ban by CONCACAF. The real story is the hoax that is being perpetrated by this administration regarding club licensing and membership compliance by keeping these functions under the Big Boss’s control in the TTFA office, as opposed to activating the independent committees. Lack of transparency and accountability.
Keith Look Loy thank you sir
Sometimes I wonder
Don’t they see how much better and bigger this can be
The billion dollar industry football
We still have blinders on
This is why TTFA needs proper and independent club licensing and membership compliance committees.
Two points to note about that:
1. WC’s books were not in order up to the time pro league clubs were about to receive funding from the gov’t. News of that went dead.
2 The same people at the top of management at his club are among those appointed to the Home of Football committee unilaterally appointed when UEFA visited before Carnival. Go figure.
W Connection was found non-compliant when MSYA and Cudjoe intervened and asked for financials when the pro league was seeking assistance. No one would have found out if it weren’t for the MSYA’s involvement.
This is the club of the sitting president. That was in the printed media. Do you recall? Sure you do. Corrupted administration.
They ought to resign, all of them. They are detrimental to the game.
How can so many things go wrong under one president and he still maintains his position? Football has suffered on so many levels in Trinidad and it seems as though the person/people that are supposed to care the most about it, actually cares the least. It is time for change! There is far too much potential in Trinidad and Tobago for players to be robbed of the exposure, experience and effort that they deserve. What else has to fail for positive changes to be made?
Liana KM Wait are you speaking facts sis? OR ARE YOU SPEAKING FACTS! TTFA has been a joke and a disgrace to the national team athletes under this regime, we have been failed tremendously and it’s unfair. While you’re at it, SPEAKING FACTS, bring back Randy Waldrum!
I wonder if I mount a challenge against DJW in November if I’ll get the support
Devon London If you have cookies to share you will.
Keith Look Loy I’ll offer if you refuse that’s on you
Devon London Pleanty people will take whatever you offer. Hungry people. Buyer’s market.
True
Keith Look Loy what’s d basic pre requisite for offering yourself as a candidate. .. I forgot
Devon London Check TTFA Constitution.
Keith Look Loy good looking out
Excerpt: Stern John meantime, spoke about his experience of the TTFA coaching courses, saying “I did the C in England as well as the UEFA B and the TTFA C and B at home. Our B and C courses in Trinidad are full of information. It’s more strenuous and intense and very comparable with the two I have been on abroad when it comes to the information being passed on and the methods used,” John told TTFA Media.
“Anton’s mentoring is very important in helping you to be a better coach. He explains at length. For me, doing the the C and B license courses in Trinidad helped me with my UEFA B course in the UK to understand the game better and with putting down my sessions. I think it’s important for local coaches to do the local B and C licenses,” added the former Sunderland forward.
“I think the B and C licenses are recognised in other parts especially the Caribbean. It is important that the our coaches keep up with the times of coaching and graduating from these courses is an important step for them.”
http://ttfootball.org/2018/11/20/stern-sees-benefits-from-ttfa-coaching-courses/
I ent no coach and doh know de ins and outs of de licensing courses, but how exactly are the TTFA B and C courses comparable to UEFA B and England C? Ent the TTFA B runs for about a week and UEFA B runs for 9-12 months? And the TTFA C runs for about 3-4 days? I eh see no England C level course, unless he’s referring to FA Level 2, but that is 145 hours. Maybe he means FA Level 1 which is 43 hours.

DED
Nigel Myers the TTFA coaching course isn’t recognised in any football nation outside Trinidad. And since even our national coaches couldn’t be bothered to get it, apparently it isn’t recognised here either.
Nigel Myers ur info is incorrect. The C license is a 2 week program that meets every for 4-5 hrs with 2 days for testing.
The B is a month long, same duration but you go off for a month (work with ur club) return for a week of practical and grading.
Kester, I stand corrected, but I’m just going on published information, unless I’m reading it incorrectly, or the information is misleading. Nevertheless, there is a marked difference in duration between the TTFA and UEFA programmes.

TTFA offers B and C License Courses
http://ttfootball.org/2017/07/06/ttfa-offers-b-and-c-license-courses/
Nigel Myers the UEFA B in most part of the Uk runs for a week. The UEFA A runs for 1 year and the pro runs for 3 years.
Even the coaching licenses that are being given in our sweet country are bootleg Them really good yes steeuuppss
Jason, thanks for the info, but what do they mean when they say “Course Duration: Delivered over the course of a season (9-12 months)”? Is it a week of theory and months of application?
http://www.thefa.com/learning/courses/fa-level-3-in-coaching-football-uefa-b
Nigel Myers for the B license you do a 1 week block which include theory and coaching practice how to deliver your session etc. After you go away you have assignments to complete plus 19 hours of coaching which the academy director have to sign off. 7 to 10 months if this help. The A starts off with 9 days block runs for 12 moths.
OK Jason, got it. Thanks.
Along with the backward Caribbean sporting trend of sports organizations that constantly ask governments for funding when in developed world this is never done
The second disturbing trend is people wanting to work for sports bodies for free
I would have thought guys like Stern & Kenwyne who played at highest levels of pro football wouldn’t go down the crazy Anton corneal route & would reject any TTFA proposal to work for free

Let me say the following:
1. I made the obvious point that Jones has no coaching certification and virtually no coaching experience. I was the only one to vote against his appointment.
2. I have repeatedly made the point that TTFA club licensing is a mess, and that the official in charge of same was “a figment of TTFA”s imagination”. TTSL clubs have constantly complained about her incompetence. The DJW administration allowed this rot to continue. This is what we now have
3. People I once believed were warriors for good governance and the proper development of football have been silenced. They now continue to disguise themselves as progressives but have gone over to the dark side.
4. SSFL is the biggest and best financed league in the country. Nonetheless, it remains excluded by football from the TTFA Board. I proposed William Wallace, SSFL President, for a VP post. I made the point that we had an opportunity to redress the glaring exclusion of that league. He got three out of eleven votes.
I could go on but no need. I will say this though, the Big Boss is buying out everybody in sight. With beads and mirrors. A trip to Wales for a Board member. An appointment to a committee for a regional association member. A promise here and there. Every man and woman has his or her price. So they say.
I will repeat the statement I made a few days ago. We have produced world class players in Trinidad and Tobago for a long time. If that is the case, then why are we struggling to break through the top three teams in the Concacaf? Our administrators have failed us continuously as far back as the sixties. I have seen it first hand during my career which came to an end in Trinidad and Tobago in 1989. If any of the Board members can recall what happened November 19th, 1989 then it should be your duty to be fair to our country by doing the correct thing, to make sure November 19th, 1989 never happen’s again in the history of our country. Instead, Board members engage in behaviors similar to what prevented us from qualifying for the 1990 World Cup. I appeal to all Board member each one of you should stand for principle, to correct the wrong and make it right. Board members, before you give in for a few pieces of silver, think, about November 19th, 1989, and if you do, then nothing will be too much to give up for the advancement of the game of football in Trinidad and Tobago.
This is the lowest ebb.
Lordddddddd!!!!
Royette Williams James You need to look at your EFA representatives.
Keith Look Loy smdh!!
Royette Williams James Don’t shake your head. DO something.
Keith Look Loy no disrespect Sir!! Heading out of this mess. My studies need me more than EFATT!!
?IHY.
it canmot be about fighting down any and everybody associated with DJW
I officially reneged my position on his appointment and wish him the best
Callum Marshall do you think that someone who has a degree and someone who is trying to acquire a degree are at the same level?
Lasana Liburd u killing me
Lasana Liburd I really thought the IG video the man put up was for real
Well it is real. It is just what the video is and isn’t showing. And it isn’t showing a coaching license. 😉
Damian Hilaire please followup on the saga on the cycling’s president of trinidad is the coach for Jamaica rider
They continue to laugh at us
Drop and article please
Apparently Mr. Jones has coaching qualifications

Callum Marshall What is this? I enquired in the meeting on seeing that his CV made no mention of coaching credentials. We were told he has none but is in the process of acquiring same.
The Instagram post from Kenwyne is of a brochure and NOT a coaching certificate. Should Kenwyne provide evidence of a certificate, I’d by happy to credit him with it.
As of now, there is no evidence of such and Kenwyne has not proven otherwise.
That’s not to say he cannot be appointed without one. But my story stands.
Lasana Liburd Right.
????? Brian Jordan
Lasana Liburd nah man I doh want to believe the man taking that route
Say it ain’t so Keith Look Loy
ME? Not me bredda..
Lasana Liburd And my vote.
I gonna post a short clip like that with a doctorate in medicine and apply for team doctor position.
Ah might get thru
Keith Look Loy really movie not giving up
this ting is ah circus orwah? LOL
Watch meh nah…hahahaha
DED
It is supposed to be annual. It was not done with TTSL clubs in 2018.
Keith Look Loy where are the checks and balances?
Bro. They don’t exist. The Constitution and internal regulations; administrative protocols; are observed only when it suits the Big Boss.
Keith Look Loy K. So it continues..
Brian Jordan EUREKA! ?
Brian Jordan And lemme also say this: The JAW administration was toppled by external intervention. THAT is PRECISELY what is needed now. Intervention by FIFA, CONCACAF, the COURTS (and TTPS) if warranted.
Keith Look Loy yep. Think conclusion of your court matter should be timely
Brian Jordan Aahhhh. Wednesday 20. I hope it goes my way.
Keith Look Loy most of us are praying it does man
Keith Look Loy I’ve been saying only way this ends is a fifa normalization Commitee
Doesn’t seem to be any guarantees that he will be voted out in November given how less board opposition has become
And we have yet to see a any challenger emerge
Colin Benjamin Theobald say he going up for the job ??
Keith, Is club compliancy something that you do annually? I see 25 clubs received certificates in 2017.
http://ttfootball.org/2017/02/11/9953/
Shambles… shambles me seh!!
“Concacaf will monitor the progress via spot checks and I have a very good relation with the club licensing manager Michelle LynchThere will be a team approach towards the monitoring, implementing and helping develop the club licensing programme.”
http://ttfootball.org/2016/10/15/club-licensing-program-off-to-strong-start/
Nigel Myers ? hmmmmm
Nigel Myers so who is ultimately responsible?
I think the TTFA is ultimately responsible. They have or supposed to have a Club Licensing Committee. They set up workshops. They were the ones who extended deadlines for non-compliant clubs etc.
Nigel Myers absolutely.. any Compliance and Audit sub committee meeting minutes?
Brothers, lemme spell it out again nah. The TTFA is run by ONE man. He is buying up support by an increasing circle of cohorts at Board and General Meeting levels. The institutions and committees of the TTFA DO NOT FUNCTION. So ultimate responsibility for the morass we are in rests solely on the Maximum Leader – the Big Boss. (And the people who are enabling him). End of story.
Keith Look Loy you doing it again 16 committee’s non functioning stop walking they not understanding the power move
can he be president forever or
Is the club license programme the same one that is supposed to have all academies registered and each player at each academy registered? And ensure that coaches at academies are licensed?
Kion S Williams No. This programme is for first (TTPL), second (TTSL), and third tier (regional associations) clubs in TTFA competitions
Kion S Williams understanding a player passport from registered academies through your FA to ensure payments to youth clubs for development called solidarity payments player development
Damian Hilaire thought that’s what it was for but seems different
Kion S Williams sad seen even Anton not around

Keith Look Loy really really going to make a movie about guess only us really love this game
A Professional sad
Eat ah food culture…
yes this seems to replicate itself through so many things in Trini…it is very much an integral part of our culture : ) so maybe that is the problem… Our culture itself : )
Gavin we should be proud of our culture. Most of it is good but then things like this let us down. Disappointing to see news like this
Yes the culture in terms of products and services as an offering is very good…but the culture in terms of mentality and what we are willing to tolerate is not at all in a good place…
If Saintfiet coulld be hired, then you know due diligence is not a common practice in that organization.
Nigel Myers …hired with technical committee in place eh..
Trini Don might disagree with you ?
Lasana, this is confusing. For what Selby Browne supposedly stands for, why would he second the nomination of Moore and Quan Chan? Keith Look Loy
Selby seems to have a different opinion of the administration at present.
Overnight ? ?
Fickleness. Just shows that you hadda take everything dem fellas say with a grain of salt, and just keep observing. Dem relly good yes.
John Williams alone is not to blame. The people who constantly support his wrong doing are equally guilty. The rest of the executive and some of the members of the board are all culpable. It is a continuing saga of ” eat a food”. It goes on in all organizations in this country
This fucking John-Williams ♂️
Let him only study his Home of Football an Men’s National Team…as d local saying goes..As d grass growing….d horse starving…cah wait to see wat happens in November
Besides the obvious insult to all REAL coaches who sacrificed their time and monies to qualify themselves it’s another quantum leap backwards to do the job for FREE and please don’t tell me about national duty ….. if we as coaches don’t respect ourselves and our profession we’ll never get respect …
Dexter Cyrus
Keith Look Loy
Callum Marshall can’t blame the coaches. They didn’t hire themselves.
Actually I can and will add blame to them … doing the job for free will be a new norm … if you expect me to act like a professional then treat me like one …. pay me !!
Callum Marshall Patriots can choose to help their country without pay, in my opinion.
Brian Jordan Qualified Patriots really….what kenwyn gonna teach dem…
Nigel Tyrell P. Reid any Patriots.. not sure who made anyone into a football God, but I know experience is a great teacher.
Brian Jordan that’s the problem right there … being a GREAT FOOTBALLER doesn’t translate automatically in good coach … you must educate yourself on your craft if you’re serious …. it’s a major disrespect by TTFF to all qualified coaches
Callum Marshall no one said it did. Luckily, I’ve seen him coach and know he has ability.
That does not matter if u wanna coach go train to be one
Just asking Brian Jordan are you a qualified coach and if so at what level ? I’m trying to put some context to your answer
this thing we love to make excuses for rank incompetenc3
Callum Marshall What is your level of qualification so we all can have context? Thanks in advance
Jones ever do a fifa certified course?
Typical Trinidadian approach Brian Jordan when your OPINION is challenged by FACT and ACCOUNTABILITY you answer a question with a question
Callum Marshall so not willing to advise us of your coaching qualifications?
Brian Jordan he asked u first doh…smh
lemme ask a diff way what are Jones’ coaching qualifications
Having been an assistant in the SSFL with St Benedict’s and Presentation College for the last five years, I am comfortable that the coaching staffs think I am suitably qualified Nigel. I’m sure Callum can speak for himself though..
I no problem sir
Qualifications:
TTFA Accredited D & C Licenses
Concacaf Level 2 Goal Keeping Course
Head Coac La Brea Youth Academy 2017 – Present
La Brea All Stars Head Coach 2019 Present
Playing Career
Point Fortin Civic Center Pro League 2016 / 2017
I could go on but that’s just a sample so you can see I ain’t just talking up in meh ass Brian Jordan
daz why u supporting jones
u was leonson assistant during that disaster year nah ?
Brain why yuh giving meh ah hard time over what you know is the correct thing … not because you like Jones means that standards should be lowered or in this case thrown out the door all together
Callum Marshall it’s quite easy to say we have licenses. In Europe and in the US, years of playing experience trumps a C license. I’d want you to validate that on your own though.
I totally disagree with that a thousand percent
Going to school never thought or made anyone a teacher… you have to be thought that
Both you and Nigel have to understand, I am looking at this thing holistically. It’s not a pissing contest. How do we fix the system without blaming coaches who don’t hire themselves or put the processes in place to ensure the right mix of experience from a playing and coaching perspective.
Feel free to do your own research. It’s all available via Google.
We now talking …. I never blamed Jones I’m just saying he should of never been hired … he isn’t suitably qualified… I’m 100 % putting the blame on the TTFF … And just to be clear some of the greatest coaches have had NO PLAYING EXPERIENCE… Jose Mourinho and Arigo Saki … a translator and a show salesman
Callum Marshall he is an assistant and his experience internationally translates into being at least a C level candidate. What are the licensing standards for a national coach here? Point me to the job description. If you can’t then this is a whole lot of noise for nothing bro.
Brian Jordan was again your reasoning is flawed and that isn’t an opinion but a fact
Callum Marshall k. Check your inbox sir
Yes sir
Brian Jordan I’m a fair person apparently Jones posted this on IG showing his qualifications
https://www.instagram.com/p/Bu6V19nl9XP/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=zpvvdj6lz9ak
Callum Marshall Amen. Doesn’t change my focus, but hope it helps you and Nigel eh
It doesn’t change my position … if you’re not Accredited you can’t hold a national coaching job… it was never about Jones it was about his qualifications
Callum Marshall K
Callum Marshall, Brian Jordan that Ig post looks like attendance at a coaches convention. Usually the criteria for that is pym of registration fees so anyone who can afford it can attend.
Kester Lendor roflmfao
I’m not discounting his knowledge or experience but coaching courses teach you how to teach the game.
Kenwyn will certainly bring tremendous knowledge as a player to the table. It is his ability to not just pass on the info but how much of it is committed to memory by his students is my real concern.
Michelle Lynch reported to whom? Fish rottens from the head.
Steups
TTFA shame bag buss awah!!
Would really love to hear more about this club licensing fiasco.
Was anyone else not compliant in the region ?
What’s the real reason ?
So this person just say I take the blame and quit ? Bye bye ?
If she taking blame and is in fact at fault for these clubs non-participation, can she or TTFA be sued…again ?
I thought he was just planted in the ground and couldn’t move. From what I understand the staff chosen was because they all working for free
Slavery days done inno idn how dem living working for ttfa for free dats madness
But in order to be on the national coaching team u must have your coaching badge to show an what rank
But may God be with them yes all the best to them
Kevon Smart I just pray is not a repeat of the last international tournament that them young boys went to. Where they get 28 goals scored against them in 4 games. That kind of embarrassment can erode your self confidence
Yeaa for real we had a whole year an a half to prepare an dem wa now warm up the youths by the time dey done with dem we getting crome every game an more or jus press the repeat button
I feel real sorry for dem
Yeah boi, now put together a coaching staff and is only because it free. If they had to pay them boys would still not have a coach and they tournament stat in May and we think that acceptable
But like u didn’t see wa went on in the wc qualifiers all d ball es come to he his touch let him down he need to leggo some of the cement of his foot
Aye allyuh not easy yuh know, Kevon yuh saying that Kenwyn can’t trap a ball
Steve Persaud that is 100% fact. d greatest sh11tong to ever play national footballl
Nigel Tyrell P. Reid kenwyne the goat aka donkey touch… according to Dion Sosa
Devon London rofl
Nigel Tyrell P. Reid allyuh like real shit
Devon London but is 100% d man had d wuss first touch in trinidad history
Nigel Tyrell P. Reid trinidad alone?
Devon London well i sure some player name bobby king in guyana have a wuss touch
Nigel Tyrell P. Reid nah Bobby wasn’t that bad
Devon London the man should be doing 25 to life for that touch
Dion Sosa kj or bk
Devon London kj
Dion Sosa for real… but the man is a defender who tried to be a striker ….. he o ly know boom football growing up.. . Still no excuse tho… it have goal keepers with better touch than him
Nigel Tyrell P. Reid ???
Devon London llyuh killing meh. Donkey touch, that is a new one for meh
Steve Persaud donkey touch and goat head mixed into one
Devon London ???? Stop it. The sad thing is we have to beat one team to get into the next round and I not sure we could do that
Steve Persaud cause all the youths gonna learn is donkey touch … and how to loaf in a offside position and hope the referees don’t catch you…????? cuz that’s how you become tnt record goal scorer. … ent Dion Sosa
Devon London ???
Steve Persaud am I lying?
Devon London no that is the sad thing. I don’t understand how these guys pit their reputations on the line lime this. Does any one in T&T believe Ztern Kohn and Kenwyn Jones are going to prepare that team to play against Jamaica, the U S. and Mexico on 5-6 weeks
What madness I seeing here jusso dey hire a rookie to be on d coaching staff an he never did no course what he going an teach d young men to do trap wen he can’t trap to save he life or how to improve your first touch is like we football getting worst every year
Kevon Smart some people will get vex with what u wrote
But look d risk that they take an now clubs can’t go an partake in the champions league so u won’t feel the players go miss out on an opportunity to show case they talent wen they play against good opponent’s that wouda been good for them an the new ones who trying to get to go outside and play
And we still have people who will defend this… and say all is well… we are building a Football Home….a legacy
Oh geeeeeez when will this stop. A cat has nine lives. DJW and his stringband is nine times nine a cat. And the TTFA and football fraternity are a bunch of spineless muppets. How can one man bring the local game and the country into disrepute with so many faux pas and just sail along? Really? Are we this weak? I guess I know the answer
This is getting more comical by the day. The TTFA is starting to rival the trump administration
Steve Persaud it’s not comical because now it’s national embarrassment
International Brian Harry
Kirwin Weston brother how come this is not upsetting people? Have we become so accustomed bullshit that we just trod along?
Brian Harry sorry if this is curt, but yes we have
Kirwin Weston painful!!!! Dagger deep and turning
Never a dull moment
