Shaquille nets hattrick as Jabloteh edge Sando 4-3; Police shock Deportivo PF as Giants go first

A dramatic late hattrick by Shaquille John paced San Juan Jabloteh to a 4-3 win away to Club Sando today as the ‘San Juan Kings’ leapfrogged two places to third in the Ascension Invitational Tournament standings.

Sando, who started the match in fourth, led on three occasions through Michael Basdeo, Trevin Caesar and Shackiel Henry but, each time, Jabloteh found an answer. Midfielder Sean Bonval scored from the penalty spot in the 37th minute before John took over with three items in the final 20 minutes to seal a dramatic win at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium Training Ground in Marabella.

Elsewhere in the Ascension Division One, QPCC pulled off their first win of the season as an early strike by Saleem Henry helped the ‘Parkites’ to a 1-0 triumph against table proppers, Prison Service FC.

There was upheaval in Division Two as well as Deportivo PF slipped from first to second place after a 3-2 defeat away to Police FC in St James. Deportivo’s loss was the San Fernando Giants’ gain as Yohannes Richardson double and a solitary item from Kerville Jeremiah helped the Giants to a 5-3 win over Bethel United.

Jeremiah is the joint highest scorer in Division Two with eight goals alongside Deportivo utility player Andrei Pacheco who scored his third penalty of the season today.

Cunupia FC captain Kevon ‘Showtime’ Woodley leads all Division One scorers with six items although Jabloteh’s John is not far behind with five goals.

John has plenty company as Defence Force forward Devorn Jorsling, Morvant Caledonia AIA attacker Johnny Noreiga-Brito, Police FC frontman Jameel Perry and FC Santa Rosa playmaker John-Paul Rochford also have a handful of goals so far this season.
