Warriors watch: Kenwyne leads the way, as T&T overseas players see action from April 15-20

“Soca Warriors” skipper Kenwyne Jones laid the appropriate foundation for a positive weekend for his Trinidad and Tobago teammates yesterday, as he scored Al Jazira’s second goal in a thrilling 3-2 win over bottom-placed Al Shaab in Arabian Gulf League action.

The dreadlocked forward rose majestically to send a trademark header past the Al Shaab custodian after Brazilian midfielder Thiago Neves floated a cross into the danger area. The victory took Al Jazira up to seventh in the 14-team table.

Will there be any “Champion” dancing this weekend?

Here is the Roneil Walcott “Warriors Watch” for April 15-20:

After parting ways with Columbus Crew in the MLS offseason, the lanky ball-winner will hope to hit the ground running with his new NASL outfit.

With Belgian-based central midfielder John Bostock waiting to commence national duty, Kevan will have to be on his Ps and Qs to keep his spot in the heart of the Warriors midfield. Honduran international Wilson Palacios and his Miami teammates won’t make the going easy though.

Leyton Orient vs Andre Boucaud and Justin Hoyte’s Dagenham & Redbridge, 10 am;

The “Daggers” sit at the bottom of the league and are 11 points away from safety with just five games remaining. A loss this weekend could very well spell demotion for the Warriors duo.
