Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) president Kieron Edwards today announced the appointment of AC Port of Spain team manager Devin Elcock as the football body’s new acting technical director.
Elcock worked as assistant coach at Defence Force as well as with several national youth teams. He assisted Shawn Cooper at the 2025 Concacaf Under-17 World Cup qualifying series.

A release from the TTFA stated that Elcock was appointed by its executive committee on 12 December and: “will assume responsibility for the technical oversight, coordination, and strategic alignment of the TTFA’s football development programmes, working closely with coaches, technical staff, and key stakeholders across all levels of the game”.
“Devin brings continuity, institutional knowledge, and a strong understanding of our technical pathway,” Edwards told the TTFA Media. “We are confident he will provide steady leadership during this period.”
Elcock’s appointment ends a three-month spell in which the TTFA operated without a technical director—a position that is a requirement for all member associations, based on the Fifa statutes.
In September, the Edwards-led TTFA sacked previous technical director Anton Corneal. No reason was offered for Corneal’s termination.

Remarkably, Wired868 understands that Edwards and his team then spent the next month in talks with Rajesh Latchoo, Corneal’s previous assistant, to take over the reins with Corneal as an advisor.
It suggests that Edwards’ team did not have a clear vision of what they wanted at the helm of the island’s technical plans.
Elcock’s ascension is even more surprising. Despite being a certified coach, Elcock never operated as head coach at any notable level.

Now, every coach under the TTFA’s purview, outside of the Men’s National Senior Team head coach, not only answers to Elcock but should rely on him for advice.
The need for astute leadership might be particularly pronounced now, with the TTFA already operating with rookie international head coaches, Randolph Boyce and Marvin Gordon, at the head of the Men’s National Under-17 and Under-20 teams respectively.
Prior to Elcock, the previous head coaches included Kendall Walkes, Muhammad Isa (interim), Lincoln “Tiger” Phillips and Corneal—all with substantial experience as head coach, at domestic and international level.

Trinidad and Tobago’s next international competition, outside of the ongoing Concacaf W Qualifiers, is the Concacaf Men’s Under-17 Qualifiers in February.
Up until yesterday, Elcock was listed as Boyce’s assistant on the National Under-17 staff. Now, he is effectively Boyce’s boss.
Incidentally, the TTFA technical committee, chaired by Edwards, has not met formally since August 2025—whether to discuss the potential candidates for the technical director post, or the recent World Cup campaign led by head coach Dwight Yorke.

The executive committee that made the call comprises: first vice-president Colin Murray, second vice-president Osmond Downer, third vice-president Jameson Rigues, and ordinary members Alicia Austin, Inspector Andrew Boodhoo, Allan Logan, Ryan Nunes, and Shelton Williams.
