Auvray, Payne, Ranjitsingh among T&T call-ups in Yorke’s 35-man WCQ longlist

Trinidad and Tobago Men’s National Senior Team head coach Dwight Yorke named four uncapped players in his 35-man long list to face Curaçao at the Hasely Crawford Stadium next Friday.

Yorke is expected to select his final squad by next Monday, as the Soca Warriors prepare for the final Concacaf World Cup qualifying round. Trinidad and Tobago play twice in the upcoming Fifa match window with their second outing away to Jamaica on Tuesday 9 September.

Yorke has used 49 different players since he was appointed head coach—12 months and 12 international games ago. He named a further seven players today.

Goalkeepers Jabari Brice and Gregory Ranjitsingh, defenders Jerrin Jackie, Deron Payne and Kobi Henry, and attackers Kaïlé Auvray and Justin Obikwu have not featured in any of Yorke’s match day squads so far.

However, all seven are under consideration at present.

FC Volendam right back Deron Payne (left) was born in Hoofddorp, Netherlands to a Trinidadian father and Dutch mother.

Payne, an Eredivisie right back with Volendam, and central defender Kobi Henry, who represents Real Salt Lake in the MLS Next Pro, are uncapped for Trinidad and Tobago at any level. Both were born overseas but qualify to wear red, black and white due to parentage.

Jerrin Jackie, a former Presentation College (San Fernando) defender, has represented Trinidad and Tobago at national youth level but has never gotten a senior call-up.

Jackie is employed by CD Gouveia at present in the Portugal fourth division.

Yorke omitted just three players from his 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup squad. Midfielder Ajani Fortune is out through injury while defender Sheldon Bateau only recently recovered from an ankle injury suffered at the Gold Cup, but is looking for a club at the moment.

Joevin Jones, the versatile Police FC midfielder, was left off of Yorke’s longlist as well.
