Sween, Bateau, and Muckette in Soca Warriors squad to face Guyana

Trinidad and Tobago Men’s National Senior Team head coach Angus Eve summoned 17-year-old San Juan North Secondary student and Caledonia AIA attacker Lindell Sween to his 26-man squad to face Guyana next week in two friendly matches.

The Soca Warriors and the “Golden Jaguars” square off from 7pm on 13 and 15 May at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, in a contest meant to widen both player pools before their respective 2026 World Cup qualifying campaigns get going.

The exhibition match is outside of the Fifa international match window and, therefore, neither team has access to their full contingent of overseas-based players.

Eve named Jamaica-based defender Josiah Trimmingham and Belgium-based defender Sheldon Bateau in his squad. Otherwise, the remaining 24 players are based in Trinidad and Tobago—including left back Andre Raymond, who is out of contract after a stint in the Portugal lower leagues.


A notable call-up is fourth form student, Sween, who has represented Trinidad and Tobago at national under-17 and under-20 level.

Sween missed his chance to feature against Jamaica in March, due to injury, but still found his way into the senior Warriors set-up for next week’s matches.

The talented left-footed attacker would join Fatima College student and QPCC attacker Michael Chaves, another 17-year-old, as the second player from the recent Concacaf Under-20 Qualifying series to be capped by Eve—if he gets on to the field.

Terminix La Horquetta Rangers midfielder Daniel “Fingers” David, Point Fortin Civic attacker Ezekiel Kesar, 1976 FC Phoenix midfielder Adriel George and the Police FC pair of Josiah Wilson and Simeon Bailey are also in line to make their international debuts against Guyana.

Tickets are on sale at the Hasely Crawford Stadium on both matchdays, priced at $75 for the covered stand and $50 for the uncovered section.
