FCB round-up: Jorsling hits Rangers for four as Army advance; Stars KO Connection

Veteran Pro League marksman Devorn Jorsling scored all four goals for the Defence Force today, as the Army/Coast Guard combination shot down St Ann’s Rangers 4-2 in the First Citizens Cup quarterfinal round at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva.

Jorsling’s beaver-trick ensures that Defence Force stay in the hunt for the first trophy of the season, despite a slow start in the Pro League where they are second from bottom in the 10-team standings.

Defence Force are joined by Ma Pau Stars who eliminated DIRECTV W Connection 3-0 on kicks from the penalty mark, after a goalless draw in regulation time. It was the second successive shootout win for Stars who also defeated San Juan Jabloteh on penalties last Tuesday after a 1-1 tie.

First Citizens Cup action continues from 3.30pm tomorrow at the Morvant Recreation Ground where Central FC face Morvant Caledonia United. While, on Monday 14 November, Police FC face Point Fortin Civic from 6pm at the Ato Boldon Stadium.

The knockout competition pays TT$3,000, TT$5,000 and TT$7,000 each for wins in the play-off, quarterfinal and semifinal rounds respectively. While, on top of earlier earnings, the overall champion will pocket TT$110,000 with TT$20,000 going to the runner-up.
