Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar’s high-profile ally was left vowing to rebound from the anguish of a humiliating public defeat yesterday.
But enough of soca star Machel Montano and his plea for empathy to “Fêteology 101” partygoers. What about TOP leader Ashworth Jack and his resounding defeat in the THA elections?
Orville London was the one fogging up the place on the “Sister Isle” as he led the PNM to an unprecedented 12-0 triumph.
The Prime Minister spent the past week supporting Jack in his bid to wrest Tobago from the PNM. She denied abandoning her responsibilities in Trinidad since her husband, Gregory—who presumably spoke on behalf of her constituents and the electorate—gave her permission to stay as long as necessary.
But Persad-Bissessar will leave Tobago empty handed.
“As I have always said, the voice of the people is the voice of God,” stated the Prime Minister, via a press statement.
Mr Live Wire cannot confirm that God retorted: “If you listened to the people more, you would have saved a lot of campaign money in Tobago.”
It appears that Tobagonians do not think it prudent to turn their island over to someone who builds a mansion, with dubious funding, on another person’s land.
Mr. Live Wire is an avid news reader who translates media reports for persons who can handle the truth. And satire. Unlike Jack Nicholson, he rarely yells.
