Intercol 25: North final postponed; ‘Pres Lions’ dethrone St Benedict’s down south

The North Zone Intercol final between defending champions Fatima College and St Anthony’s College, initially scheduled for this afternoon at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, has been moved to Wednesday 3 December.

The Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) Fixtures Committee, headed by assistant secretary administration Laurence Seepersad, formally informed the relevant schools last night—although Wired868 understands that both teams were expecting the postponement.

The SSFL administrators are keen to have the boys and girls zonal finals run as double headers, which also maximises gate receipts for the respective events.

However, field unavailability for a fixture between Diego Martin Central and Tranquillity Secondary caused the rescheduling of their Girls Intercol quarterfinal match, which had a knock-on effect of upending scheduled dates in the boys and girls competitions.

There was plenty of action in the South zone yesterday, though, as defending National Intercol champions, St Benedict’s College, were eliminated by Presentation College (San Fernando) in the closing affair of a double header at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva.

St Benedict’s can still end this season as Premier Division champions, as they aim to leapfrog Naparima College and Signal Hill Secondary on the final match day on Thursday. But, for the second time this year, they had no answer for the “Pres Lions”.

  • Presentation College (San F’do) forward Isaiah Jacob puts his team ahead in their South Zone Intercol semifinal contest against St Benedict’s College on 24 November 2025.

After a goalless first half, Presentation College striker Isaiah “Baby Hulk” Jacob gave his troops the lead in the 50th minute—as they punished Benedict’s dozy defensive transition.

And flanker Roshaun Doobay doubled their lead in the 80th minute with a close-ranged finish off a Presentation incursion through the left side of Benedict’s defence.

Presentation will meet Naparima in the South Zone final on Monday, with the latter school enjoying a far more serene trip through the semifinal stage.

Jabari Rodriguez scored a treble as “Naps” trounced South Zone Championship team, Palo Seco Secondary, 6-0.

Presentation, fourth on the 2025 Premier Divisions standings, have already defeated Naparima once this season. Their rematch is sure to be a tense affair.

Meanwhile in Tobago, Selon Guy scored two four times for Speyside Secondary as they cruised to a 6-0 win over Roxborough Secondary in the quarterfinal round, while Malique Young’s double steered Bishop’s High a 2-1 triumph over Goodwood Secondary.
