The following Letter to the Editor, in the wake of West Indies being bowled out for 27 runs in the third Test against Australia, was submitted to Wired868 by Choy Aping from Trinidad:

Dr Kishore Nalin Shallow (Cricket West Indies president) and Daren Sammy (West Indies coach), you all have presided over this complete embarrassment of West Indies Cricket: the lowest Test score in our history—20 runs fewer than our previous all-time low of 47—and the second lowest total in Test cricket history.
What is motivating y’all to stay in y’all jobs??
Why, 24 hours later, haven’t we seen or heard either of you all throwing in the towel? And neither Floyd Reifer (assistant coach, batting) and Roston Chase (team captain)?

As a West Indian, I will NEVER forget that score. (As a matter of fact, I am still aggrieved by being 47 all out against England!)
For the rest of our life, these embarrassments will live with West Indians.
Why have none of you guys thrown in the towel yet?? Do you want or expecting the board to sack you guys so you can be compensated for causing us this humiliation?? Are there not honor in men anymore??

With standards like this, the refusal of the powers that be to resign shows that we are being led by persons who can sit below the white line on the road.

I agree that heads should roll. I also think though that it goes way beyond the question of who can/should/could take West Indies cricket forward. The situation is dire enough at this time to suggest a total overhaul/revamp/reconstruction (whichever is more appropriate) of our entire (men/women) cricketing infrastructure. Whatever currently exist isn’t providing the outcomes that fans desire and therefore some serious questions need to be asked and meaningful solutions needed at this point.
