SSFL 26: St Anthony’s stun San Juan 4-0 to climb out of relegation zone, CIC extend lead

St Anthony’s College climbed out of the relegation zone for the first time in the 2026 SSFL SporTT Premiership Division season, as they stunned San Juan North Secondary 4-0 today in Bourg Mulatresse—with all four goals coming in the last 16 minutes of the match.

It was only the second win this term for St Anthony’s, who defeated Arima North Secondary 3-1 in Westmoorings on Wednesday. San Juan North were coming off consecutive wins in their last two outings, and should have fancied their chances.

And, with the score locked at 0-0 with less than 20 minutes remaining, the game exploded to life—but not in the way the hosts would have expected.

Midfielder Marley Ramdass broke the deadlock in the 74th minute with his fourth goal of the season, and his third this week. And then utility player Karim Millington finished off the “San Juan Kings” with a hattrick inside of six minutes, as St Anthony’s took complete control.

The win propelled the “Westmoorings Tigers” from 15th place in the 17-team standings to 13th—just one spot outside of the relegation zone.

St Augustine Secondary were the unfortunate side to slip into relegation trouble, as they fell 2-0 at home against visiting Presentation College (San Fernando).

The “Green Machine” have not won in four games now, with three losses amongst them. They host Queen’s Royal College next, who are just one point above the drop zone—as the “Royalians” lost 2-1 at home to Malick Secondary today.

Keisean Spence got a double for Malick, to take his season’s tally to six goals.

At the top end of the table, St Mary’s College, the only unbeaten team left in the competition, defeated second-from-bottom Mucurapo West Secondary 3-0 away, with defender Jaylon Roberts netting twice.

Two of St Mary’s three goals came in second half stoppage time.

The “Saints” extended their lead atop the standings by three points, after Fatima College came from two goals down to hold second place St Benedict’s College 2-2. Inspirational Fatima captain Jahaem “Yellows” got one of his team’s goals from a direct free kick, and he continues to lead the league’s scoring charts with 14 items.

Fatima slipped to fifth spot though, as they were overtaken by defending champs Naparima College, who routed Trinity College East 6-0 in Trincity.

Forward Adasa Richardson was among Naparima’s scorers, as he racked up his 11th goal of the season.

The comeback of the day surely happened at Moka, though, where hosts Trinity College led 3-0 at the break.

Former National Under-15 forward Kevez Quintero opened the scoring on a counter-attack in the fourth minute, before captain Malachi Roach scored twice off set pieces to take a commanding lead.

The “Dial Dynamos” were staring a third straight defeat in the face. But a Rickeel Phillip strike in the 49th minute offered the visitors a glimmer of hope.

And when attacking midfielder Jaeden Samuel swivelled in the opposing penalty area to blast home in the 71st minute, the floodgates opened—with Phillip, defender Tequan John and stand-in captain Essien Thomas all scoring in a nine-minute spell to stun the hosts.

It was a third straight loss for the “Moka Lions”, who are in 15th place with seven points from eight games. Coach Marlon Minguel also lost Roach to a late red card in the affair.

Next up, Trinity travel to the home of tenth placed Hillview College, who lost 2-1 away to Signal Hill Secondary today.

Hillview, who sacked head coach Jeremy McMeo on Thursday, are on a run of five games without a win—including three straight defeats.

It is likely to make for a spirited affair in Tunapuna on Wednesday afternoon.

Hillview College are looking to rebound under new head coach Jerwyn Balthazar, who previously served as assistant to Jeremy McMeo.
