Rudder pummels Chaka for Newsday accolade

US soul singer and 10-time grammy award winner, Chaka Khan, gifted calypsonian and former Calypso Monarch and Road March champion, David Rudder, and reigning Road March, Soca Monarch and Groovy Soca victor, Machel Montano, performed for locals at the Queen’s Park Savannah on Saturday night.

We know what you’re thinking.

“Was it fun and inspiring?”

Not even close. You want to know who won, right?

Trinidad Newsday said, judging by audience response, revealed that “Chaka was no match for calypso icon, David Rudder.”

Wired868 cannot confirm whether audience members were required to vote by text or if Rudder got a trophy or is just expected to clip out the Newsday article.

However, Wired868 does feel that Trinidad and Tobago’s musical industry will continue to be the loser until we start to see the stage as a place for love and inspiration and not as a battleground.
