Subway to Glory: ‘I truly admire Elijah David’s leadership and fighting spirit!’

Celeste Williams is unequivocal about her favourite player in the SSFL Premiership Division, St Benedict’s College winger Elijah David, and her detailed reasoning makes her our second Subway to Glory winner:

My favourite SSFL player for 2026 is none other than Elijah David of St Benedict’s College!

What makes Elijah stand out to me is that his game goes far beyond scoring goals. I admire his leadership and the way he communicates with his teammates, bringing them together and encouraging them to work as one.

To me, that is the mark of a true team player—someone who understands that football is not just about individual talent, but about teamwork, unity and a shared desire to win.

His passing skills and ability to create opportunities for his teammates make him exciting to watch. His standout performance against Arima North Secondary was a perfect example of what he brings to the game, as he scored the opening goal and also contributed an assist in St Benedict’s impressive 4–0 victory!

But what impresses me most is his drive and determination. When he loses possession, he doesn’t simply give up; he wants that ball back! That fighting spirit, commitment and refusal to give up are qualities I truly admire.

Elijah is the kind of player who doesn’t just play for the team; he helps bring the team together. His leadership, vision and hunger to win are what make me look forward to seeing him play.

For me, Elijah David is more than a player to watch—he reminds us that talent may win moments, but determination, teamwork and heart can make the difference!
