Second ODI between West Indies and Australia postponed, as staff member tests positive

The second CG Insurance ODI between the West Indies and Australia has been postponed, due to ‘a positive Covid-19 test result from a non-playing member of the West Indies staff’.

A release from the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Media revealed that the result only became known after the toss at Kensington Oval. The members of both teams, according to established Covid-19 protocols, were asked to immediately return to the team hotel to be retested.

Players and officials must remain in isolation until their PCR tests results are returned. The CWI Media stated that: ‘a decision on when the match will be replayed will be made at a later date, once all the test results are confirmed’.

At present, Australia lead the ODI series 1-0.
