Intercol 25: ‘Naps’ complete sweep against Signal Hill; ‘P-ville’ edge Five Rivers

Naparima College completed a clean sweep of top flight titles in the 2025 Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) this evening, as they added the National Intercol trophy to their South Intercol and Premier Division crowns.

In the end, an error by Signal Hill Secondary goalkeeper Kaleb Romeo separated the two teams as Naparima emerged 1-0 winners at the Ato Boldon Stadium.

The score summary recorded the decisive item as a Romeo goal, which might be a touch harsh. But certainly the goalkeeper should have done a lot better with a speculative, low effort by lively Naparima midfielder Jabari Rodriguez.

Somehow, Romeo failed to hold on a straightforward effort that went through his arms and then legs before nestling into the back of the net.

Try as they might, Signal Hill could not recover.

The Girls National Intercol final, which was the opening affair of a double header, was closer still.

Pleasantville Secondary needed penalty kicks to defeat Five Rivers Secondary, as the two teams were 1-1 after 40 minutes and 2-2 after 80 minutes.

Gifted attacker Nikita Gosine was Pleasantville’s most obvious weapon at kickoff, but it was goalkeeper Akeila Marryshow and midfielder Natalia Gosine who stole the show in the shootout for the southern champions.

Last season, St Joseph’s Convent (Port of Spain) defeated Pleasantville on penalties in the Intercol final.

There was no stopping “P-ville” in 2025 though.
