T&T resume WCQ campaign x Curaçao in POS on Friday 5 Sep

The Trinidad and Tobago Men’s National Senior Team will resume their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign against Curaçao at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain from 8pm on Friday 5 September.

Captain Kevin Molino led his teammates out in front of a capacity crowd at the Hasely Crawford Stadium last month, as the two-island republic hosted Saint Kitts and Nevis. And there is likely to be another bumper crowd in Port of Spain when the Dutch-speaking islanders come to visit.

The national footballers, who are set to officially shed the moniker of Soca Warriors—after the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) failed to agree terms with trademark holder, Selwyn Melville—then face Jamaica from 7pm at the National Stadium in Kingston on Tuesday 9 September.

The dates were confirmed today by the TTFA.

The two-island republic met Curaçao in competitive action on three occasions before and tallied two wins (one in Montego Bay, Jamaica and the other in Port of Spain, Trinidad) before a 5-3 loss in Willemstad in their last clash on 18 October 2023.

Coach Dwight Yorke would hope to take all three points at home against Curaçao before they travel to tackle the Reggae Boyz, who might have former England international Mason Greenwood in their ranks by then.

The winner in Group B, which also includes Bermuda, advance automatically to the next Fifa World Cup while the runners-up head to a Play-Off. The third and fourth place finishers are eliminated.

Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica have qualified to one senior World Cup each in 2006 and 1998 respectively.

Curaçao and Bermuda have never qualified for a Fifa World Cup at any level.
