Lee, Peltier and Frenderup named in T&T squad to face Iran

Teenaged Trinidad and Tobago forward Isaiah Lee was rewarded for his fine form at the Concacaf Under-20 Championship with his maiden senior international call-up, as  coach Dennis Lawrence selected the Monroe Community College (USA) forward in his 21-man squad to face Iran in a friendly on 15 November.

Lee, who has three goals from four matches at the Concacaf competition, is expected to feature this afternoon in Trinidad and Tobago’s final Under-20 group stage contest before joining the senior squad in Fort Lauderdale tomorrow, en route to Tehran.

Lee is one of four changes to the Trinidad and Tobago squad that lost 1-0 away to Thailand last month. Lawrence also recalled USA-based winger Cordell Cato while Saudi Arabia-based attacker Lester Peltier and Denmark-based goalkeeper Nicklas Frenderup were also summoned.

The 25-year-old Frenderup, who was born in Denmark, has never been selected for a Trinidad and Tobago squad before. He plays in Norway’s second tier. Peltier, who announced his international retirement last year, is set to make his first appearance for Trinidad and Tobago since January 2016.

Lawrence is without the injured trio of winger Levi Garcia, forward Shahdon Winchester and combative midfielder Neveal Hackshaw.
