Caledonia AIA will play for its third Cup trophy this season after whipping T&TEC FC 3-1 on Friday night in the semi-finals of the Lucozade Sport Goal Shield at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium in Marabella.
Caledonia, who is coached by Jerry Moe and Jamaal Shabazz, has already lifted the First Citizens Cup and the TTFF FA Trophy title while W. Connection won the remaining domestic honours, which were the 2011/12 Digicel Pro League title and the Toyota Classic.
Meanwhile, T&TEC is forced to wait even longer for its first top flight trophy despite a storming start to its debut Pro League season. Coach Dexter Cyrus’ men lost the finals of the First Citizen Cup and Toyota Classic to Caledonia and Connection respectively while a 3-2 loss to Caledonia on the last day of the season saw Connection pip T&TEC to the League trophy.
But T&TEC failed to avenge those defeats as Caledonia never looked back after a Coneal Thomas own goal put them ahead in the 13th minute.
Defence Force will challenge Caledonia in the final of the Shield competition after the army/ coast guard combination breezed past St Ann’s Rangers in Friday’s other semi-final.
Caledonia edged Defence Force in the final of the FA Cup and the latter team, led by coach Ross Russell, will hope to enact a reversal on Friday.
