Intercol 25: Speyside upset Scarborough, while Signal Hill go through

Scarborough Secondary were eliminated from the 2025 Intercol competition today, as the struggling Premier Division outfit fell 3-1 to Championship outfit Speyside Secondary in a Tobago Intercol semifinal double header at Shaw Park.

Speyside, who are Premier Division-bound after finishing second in the 2025 First Citizens Big Five competition, gave an indication of their top flight credentials today as they led throughout in Scarborough.

Speyside Secondary are through to the 2026 Premier Division, after a 6-0 win over Mucurapo West Secondary in a First Citizens Big Five contest on 26 November 2025.

Jamal Horsford put the “Country Boys” ahead in the 28th minute while a Jabari Roberts double sealed the upset, despite Jayden Pope offering Scarborough a glimmer of hope with a late second half item.

Speyside will meet Signal Hill in the Tobago final on Wednesday, after Signal Hill downed Bishop’s High School in the opening match of the double header.

For Scarborough, their next game might be their most important one of the season as they host San Juan North Secondary in the closing 2025 Premier Division fixture.

Scarborough need a win to avoid demotion while San Juan North survive with at least a draw. The SSFL Fixtures Committee is expected to find a date for the contest soon.
