Kamillionare FC left their mark on another Group B giant yesterday as they spanked Central Soccer World 5-1 in NLCL U19 Community Cup action, with Samuel Sealy leading all scorers with a hattrick.
With two matches left in Group B, Central Soccer World are third with 13 points. The top three finishers qualify for the knockout rounds.
However, Made in La Brea, who are fourth with 10 points, can catch Central if they slip up again. While, in the event that Central Soccer World and Made In La Brea both fail to pass 13 points, they can both be overtaken by Kamillionare—who are second from bottom with seven points at present.
After a 2-2 draw with group leaders Point Fortin Youth FA and the big weekend win, Kamillionare captain Daniel Hope might be dreaming of a miracle.
Point Fortin returned to winners’ row on Sunday with a 1-0 win over Made In La Brea, courtesy of a strike by right back McKale Thomas. And Gasparillo Youths moved three points clear of Central in second place with a 3-0 triumph over bottom placed Moruga FC, thanks to a Malik Young double.
In Group A, defending champions Soccer Made Simple (SMS) climbed to second place after a 2-0 win away to Malabar Young Stars, with Deisean Plaza scoring his fourth goal of the season.
It was the second successive winless outing for third placed Athletic International Academy (AIA), who followed up a midweek loss to SMS with a 1-1 tie with Caledonia AIA in Morvant.
The last time the two AIAs met, the former outfit romped to a 8-0 win in Tacarigua. Caledonia head coach Akel Baig vowed to return the “favour”.
In the end, it was a vastly improved result for Caledonia; but not quite good enough.
Caledonia are fourth with 13 points—five shy of AIA—with a game in hand. A weekend win would have narrowed the gap to two points and the “Eastern Stallions” would have had their faith in their own hands.
As it stands, Athletic International Academy are favoured to grab the final knockout berth for the group and follow QPCC – City FC and SMS into the quarterfinal round.
