“[…] Angus Eve, you signed up for this wuk. We critics aren’t here to wine up on you and like you, we want you to get this team winning football games.
“[…] So, the criticism is nothing personal, or about liking Angus Eve…”
The following Letter to the Editor on Trinidad and Tobago Men’s National Senior Team head coach Angus Eve was submitted to Wired868 by Kendell Karan of Chaguanas:
I, Kendell Karan, is a fan who criticised the performance of Andre Rampersad in recent games—not saying that he should be excluded from the squad, but […] that Justin Sadoo should’ve been given an opportunity to be one of the pistons in our midfield.
However, Andre Rampersad against Curaçao and recently El Salvador blew me away. He put a gag in my mouth. He was instrumental in those victories; and he should start against Guatemala.
We won those matches and shut up all the haters. So big up yourself Coachman, you have done very well. Angus Eve, you signed up for this wuk. We critics aren’t here to wine up on you and like you, we want you to get this team winning football games.
Angus Eve is correct, like (Arsenal coach) Mikel Arteta, pretty football only gets you so far in competitions. We need to be efficient and generate results when it matters to get points in group stages and move on to the next stage of competitions to have a shot at winning titles.
So, the criticism is nothing personal, or about liking Angus Eve. He seems like an affable guy. It’s about asking questions when things go wrong, proving the haters and naysayers wrong, shutting them up for good, getting the team to buy into the tactics and win football games.
That’s the football business and Shaun Fuentes is there to be Eve’s seasoned barking dog. He’s accustomed to that.
It’s unfortunate that people tend to forget the million great things you’ve done and focus on one little thing, then hate on you—but that’s life, Eve.
Nevertheless, we Trinbagonians will support the “red, white and black” and you, Angus Eve, wherever, no matter the weather and opposition.
Soca Warriors to the centre of the earth and back!
