St Benedict’s College captain Tarik Lee and Scarborough Secondary forward J’Eleisha Alexander were awarded the two most prestigious individual accolades today, as the Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) feted its top teams and players for the 2022 season at its annual award ceremony at Naparima College.
Lee, a pacy, versatile centre forward, led Benedict’s to their first Premier Division title as well as the South Zone Intercol crown while Alexander helped Scarborough to the Girls Big 5 trophy.

The SSFL’s five boys standouts for 2022 were adjudged to be Lee and Benedict’s teammate Josiah Ochoa, San Juan North Secondary forward Larry Noel, Trinity College East attacker Jaheim Faustin and gifted Fatima College goalkeeper Tristan Edwards.
St Benedict’s had six selections on the all-star team, which was the most by any boys team.
Outside of Lee, and Ochoa, goalkeeper Ja-ir Buckmire, defenders Joshua Demas and Lyshawn Morris, and midfielder Ephraim Brown also numbered among the Premier Division’s top players.
Fatima College, the National Intercol champs, had five all-star nominations, which were: Edwards, full backs Jesse Hospedales and Alijah Nunes, flanker and captain Christian Bailey, and forward Michael Chaves.
San Juan North Secondary had three picks with Noel joined by playmaker Lindell Sween and defender Desailly Lewis.

The SSFL’s top five girls players in 2022 were: Alexander (Scarborough Secondary), Five Rivers Secondary midfielder Lu Ann Craig and attackers Jillianda Salandy (Miracle Ministries PHS), Leia-Marie Balfour (Signal Hill Secondary), and Orielle Martin (Bishop High School East).
Signal Hill, Girls National Intercol winners, were deemed to have the most individual standouts with four all-star picks. Apart from Balfour, defender Dominique Scott and midfielders Twinkle Thomas and Madison Campbell also made the illustrious cast.
Miracle Ministries Pentecostal High School, Scarborough Secondary and Five Rivers Secondary had three all-star picks each.

Yes you are correct Huey….it would have been nice to have a picture of SSFL MVP Female SSFL 2022 season J’ ELeisha Alexander ( Scarborough Secondary. ) Actually we do have pics of her so it would have been rather easy to get one of her to use in this well written story by Lasana…..but hopefully in the future.

Agreed. We will keep trying to raise the funding to cover the SSFL girls division in the same way we do the boys. Hopefully we will get there in 2023.
