Singing Les Bleus! Former T&T international Cornell Glen reveals how George Weah inspired him to become a football star, the elegant Frenchman that made him forget the “Samba Boys” and the big game player he thinks will take Russia 2018 by storm, in the first of Wired868’s five-part World Cup series, “Ball is Life!”

D first President who won a Ballon d’Or
Wired868 In article with Cornell Glen
Like u hadda put a semicolon instead of a comma there for people to understand
Good suggestion yes. But I wonder if the people who comment by speed reading a column are the sort to grasp the significance of a semicolon… ???
Glenavon Bissessar we all make mistakes. Me not pointing it out would be doing you a disservice.
LasanaLiburd no offence taken….Ian Fitzwilliam i can take constructive criticism, hope you never make the same error….
Glenavon not singling you out here at all. More like about a dozen other people who made silly comments.
Ian Fitzwilliam I just don’t know what to say. Comprehension seems to be a lost art in this country!
I hope some English language teachers are watching! ????
Lasana Liburd when people read headlines then comment on content. ???
Big player
And obviously Weah never played in a World Cup.
Cornell said George Weah inspired him. He never said that Weah was French. He knows that he is not.
Helped knock us ( Signal Hill) out of Intercol. Very fast striker
Cornell Glen one Trinidad and Tobago greatest players.
WEAH S NOT EVEN FRENCH
Angel, I will give you a $100 if you can show me where anyone said Weah was a French citizen.
Keep up the good work we need more of you in Trinidad
Good job
My favorite local player ever!
Big player man respect …..
Who said he was?
But well done with that interview ah appreciate it cos he did a lot for our football
Lisana Liburd Yuh should ah put up dat solo goal he scored for New York New Jersey metrostars ah can’t remember the team he scored against but he started from inside his half just inside the centre circle and beat at least 4 defender’s then the keeper and scored he got world play of the day with dat CNN world play of the day to boot
Was a beautiful goal. But the clip was too grainy unfortunately.
WATCH: Cornell Glen abuses Steve Jolley, MetroStars vs Dallas
One of the greatest players to don the red, white & black
You know I jus watched, Weah’s top 10 AC goals, today.
Forget some people unless you are part of T&T landscape your comments would be off track.
When we become out of touch with what’s going on in the local arena we may downplay what a player has achieved. We have no players in the MLS today (correct if I’m wrong) we have none in the EPL or 2nd 3rd or even 4th division. Cornell Glen was able to come from humble beginnings make a name for himself locally and internationally (played in a World Cup and almost scored). Great player, excellent service to both club and country.
Only Molino there at present.
Lasana Liburd ohhh yes is true ??♂️
Stern John once told me that if there was any striker whose skill-sets he envied, it was Cornell Glen. He wish he had his gifts. People who know football would appreciate his value.
Lasana Liburd of course. I played small goal with his elder brother, one of the most gifted dribblers. When I saw Cornell Glen play, I realised where he got it from. He played for my rival school St Agnes. I always say, trinis never could appreciate their own, because “foreign” always appears to be better. Great interview ??. Eagerly awaiting the Gary Glasgow, Dwarika, Mark Ellis, Irasto Knights, Ramdoo, Aleong, Jean Lillywhite etc. Keep it up.
One player everyone forgot about was Chezley Walters Lasana Liburd do you remember him ?
Preston yes. From Malick. Nice attacker. But what about Junior Hamilton? I played with him for a few years at House of Dread. What a player!
Aka “killa”
Russell you know of whom I speak. He was one of the cleanest dribblers I ever saw. He would beat opponents and swivel away and they couldn’t even grab his shirt.
Killa and Darin Lewis were two of the most gifted players that I was lucky to play with.
Yeah man, gifted left foot, hard worker to the bone. Darin Lewis had the most unstoppable drag to mankind, probably only second to Arnold Dwarika own lol. Hmmmm I miss those days.
Think he was killed in Maloney
We lost our way in football due to the crime because the small goal use to bring out the most skillfully players ever an the soccer picnics as well even the north zone was one of the biggest ever with you foundation teams an no matter how good u was u had to have that discipline
In hind sight the pro league killed off progressive leagues in Trinidad.
Lasana Liburd I have a co worker of mine who always talk about him!!!
Dwayne who is that?
One of d BEST midfielder hv ever passed through dis Country as well was aka ( HARDEST) can’t remember his correct name he was around d same time with Cornell Glen also played on d National team
David his name is Kerwin Jemmott. And he was a genius.
What football star
Cornell Glen is Trinidad and Tobago’s fifth highest goal scorer of all time. That puts him ahead of players like Dwight Yorke, Kenwyne Jones, Leonson Lewis, Steve David…
And all despite missing close to three years due to injury and having to play wide at times during the Stern John era.
Familiarity breeds contempt though and we are not known to treasure our own unless an outside praises them first.
Cornell glen was a beast in his prime. Enjoyed watching him. His pace skill on the ball n mean shot was a handful for most defenders. Pity injury slowed him down
Something wrong with you Bhisham.. He was no messi but was an excellent player..

George Weah is an elegant Liberian who holds French citizenship.
????
Patriotism Bisham.. Find some..
Wait breds… D man was ok not world class that’s all I’m saying
An what patriotism have to do with the truth…. I should be able to speak my mind and a lot of ppl who go like an comment don’t know crap only the key board warrior types
He is a star because he went from zero to among our top strikers of all time. That makes him our star.
I understand your point.. All I’m saying is he was ok not world class.
And you’re free to have an opinion. But why denigrate someone who has contributed so much to our football?
If you want to say you don’t think he was that good, then fine. But you could still say it with more decorum.
Bhisham I understand your point now. Ok.
And these people who quick to put down our own cant even kick a chubby bottle…nor are anything special in their own field of endeavor…steups yes… Glenn was always a player I liked and thought should have played more
