Intercol 25: Jahda strikes again, as Malick upset Trinity (Moka) in North quarters

Malick Secondary pulled off the first upset of the 2025 Intercol competition yesterday, as they edged Trinity College (Moka) 1-0 at Queen’s Royal College grounds in the North Zone quarterfinals.

Trinity were the third seeded team in the North while Malick are bottom of the zone’s six Premier Division teams and still scrapping to survive demotion. But Malick did not respect the form book, as versatile 15-year-old attacker Jahda Riley bagged the game’s only goal.

It was Riley’s seventh goal of the season and a complete reversal of the last time these two schools met, when Trinity won 5-3 in Westmoorings.

Malick will now face the winner between St Anthony’s College and Mucurapo West Secondary in Friday’s North Zone semifinals at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.

Intercol action continues tomorrow with zonal quarterfinals in the East, North and South Zones, along with a rescheduled Premier Division contest between Signal Hill Secondary and St Augustine Secondary in Tobago.

St Augustine must get at least a point at Signal Hill or they will be relegated from the top flight, alongside Carapichaima East Secondary and a still-to-be-determined third Premier Division school.
