RBNYFL 25: KO guide as quarterfinals kick off this weekend

The 2025 Republic Bank National Youth Football League (RBNYFL) knockout round gets going this weekend with 12 matches across three age groups at: the Arima Velodrome, St Augustine Secondary, and El Dorado West Secondary.

East champions QPCC FC kick off the Under-20 quarterfinal round in what promises to be a spicy match-up against City FC at the Arima Velodrome from 9am on Saturday 26 April.

City FC previously traded as the QPCC Academy before deciding to go their own way in 2024. Saturday morning’s meeting, then, has all the elements of a memorable sibling rivalry.

To drive home that point, winger Micah Nelson has been QPCC’s best player so far this season—although he is likely to miss the weekend match through injury—while his younger brother, Phillip Nelson, is expected to lead the line for City.

And City U-20 assistant coach Myles Yorke also plays for QPCC in the TTPFL Tier Two.

The team that emerges victorious from that clash will face either Central champs Premier Sports Club or South runners-up Police FC in the U-20 semifinal round. Premier and Police clash from 1pm at the Velodrome.

At the other side of the bracket, North Zone champs Pro Series finished as top seed from the group stage and start off their knockout campaign against Central runners-up Kamillionare FC from 3pm in Arima.

The winner will face either South champs Club Sando or East runners-up San Juan Jabloteh in the semifinals. Club Sando and Jabloteh square off from 11am at the Velodrome on Saturday.

In the Under-14 category, the meeting between North Zone champs Pro Series and South runners-up Cox Coaching School looks to be the tastiest match up at El Dorado West Secondary ground on Saturday.

Pro Series and Cox square off at 11am, with the winner facing whoever emerges from a 1pm clash between South champs Point Fortin Youth Football Academy and Central runners-up T&T Maestros.

The contest between North runners-up City FC and East champs Beatnix Sports Club, which starts the day’s proceedings at 9am, promises to be another captivating battle.

The Under-14s top seed, Central winners Premier Sports Club, draw the curtain on the division’s quarterfinal round when they face East runners-up Creek Sports and Cultural Club from 3pm in El Dorado.

The winner of the Premier showdown will face either City or Beatnix in the U-14 semifinals.

In the RBNYFL U-17 category, there are four East-based teams in the knockout round as Beatnix SC and FC Ginga placed first and second respectively in the Central Zone while San Juan Jabloteh and Maloney Real Footballers Academy took the top two East Zone spots.

And there is a chance of an all-East semifinal round.

Beatnix play North runners-up Trendsetter Hawks from 9am at the St Augustine Secondary ground on Sunday, with the winner facing either North champs Cardinals Football Academy or Maloney RFA.

The Tobago Girls Under-17 semifinal stage will be held at Black Rock in Courland on Saturday with Jewels Sports Club facing Black Panthers from 9am while division winners Tobago Chicas tackle Combined Ballerz from 11am.

The Trinidad Girls U-17 semifinals will take place on Sunday 4 May, along with the Trinidad Boys U-17 semifinals.
