Hinkson doubles up as Stars down Point Fortin

Diminutive utility player Kennedy Hinkson opened his account for the 2014/15 Pro League season with a double today as North East Stars shot down Point Fortin Civic at the Mahaica Oval in Point Fortin.

Point Fortin, who limped through the pre-season with the threat of financial bankruptcy, scored first through Weslie John but could not hold off the Sangre Grande-based club as it fell to its second successive defeat.

Busy midfielder Jayson Joseph equalised for Stars in the 41st minute before Hinkson completed the reversal with goals in the 45th and 90th minutes.

It was the Stars’ first win of the season and not a moment too soon as the Pro League now closes for a break due to the 2014 Caribbean Cup semifinal qualifying phase, which kicks off at the Ato Boldon Stadium on Wednesday.
