Khaleem Hyland loses mom, Carol; TTFA offers condolences to Warriors captain

Trinidad and Tobago National Senior Team captain Khaleem Hyland lost his mother, Carol Hyland, today as she passed away on the morning of her 65th birthday after ailing for months.

The Soca Warriors captain, who now plays professionally in Saudi Arabia, is 28 years old. Funeral arrangements for Carol Hyland will be announced by the family in due course.

Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) president David John-Williams offered condolences to Hyland on behalf of the local football body.

“Our prayers and thoughts are with Khaleem and his close ones in this extremely difficult period,” said John-Williams, via the TTFA Media. “Khaleem has been a faithful servant to the country and our national teams and I am certain he would have made her tremendously proud with his accomplishments.”

Hyland, a former Mucurapo East Secondary student, has 75 full senior international caps with four goals. His last outing for Trinidad and Tobago was on 10 October 2017 when the Warriors stunned the United States 2-1 in their final Russia 2018 World Cup qualifier at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva.

Hyland returned home last week and was able to see his mother before she died.

  1. I extended condolences through Debbie already, but I could not allow a piece of history to go pass. My memories go back to when Khaleem received his first contract. It was his mom and dad who sat with me requesting that I take a look at it and advise. His mom so excited and supportive, just wishing for the best to come out of it. She was his biggest supporter and will go down in the memories of all who would have interacted with her. May she rest in eternal peace and give Khaleem the strength to continue keeping the love in his heart for her.
